Gladiators Battle to Bronze at Playoffs 🥉
The McCaig Gladiators Ice Hockey team took to the ice at the Sport-Laval SWLSB Elementary Hockey League Playoff Tournament on Wednesday March 25, 2026, at Place Bell in Laval.
After finishing a strong 3rd place out of 10 teams in the regular season, the Gladiators carried that momentum into the playoffs with determination and grit.
They opened the tournament playoffs with an impressive 4–2 victory over Hillcrest Elementary, earning their spot in the semifinals. In a thrilling and hard-fought matchup against Souvenir Elite, the Gladiators battled to a 4–4 tie before falling in overtime, just one step short of the finals.
The team proudly finishes the tournament in 3rd place 🥉.
The players can hold their heads high. Their effort, teamwork, and resilience were on full display all season long. While the sting of coming so close to the finals remains, this group knows what they are capable of, and there is great pride in earning a spot on the podium.
Six Gladiators stepped up in the Skills Competition with our goalies rising to the challenge with impressive performances.
And so this marks the end of the season on a positive and memorable note. A special acknowledgment goes to the Grade 6 players, for whom this was their final season as Gladiators. We wish them continued success as they move on to their high school teams.
Once a Gladiator, always a Gladiator. 💪
Go Gladiators!

Boys Team- Results🏀
The boys entered their first matchup needing a win to advance to the gold medal round. They faced a very strong and talented CADL squad and fought hard but fell 35–25, just short of the championship game.
Refusing to give up, the Gladiators regrouped and came back strong in their next game, defeating Collège Laurentien to secure the bronze medal 🥉 and finish the tournament 3rd overall. A fantastic effort and a well-earned result! 🥉🥉🥉🥉🥉🥉🥉
Girls Team-Results🏀
The girls opened the tournament with a competitive game, narrowly losing by just a few baskets. They continued to battle hard throughout the day and advanced to the bronze medal game, where they ultimately fell short.
Despite the result, the team showed tremendous growth and effort throughout the season, finishing 4th in the region—an honourable achievement. Qualifying for regionals alone means being among the top teams in the region, and the girls represented McCaig with heart and pride.
