The US Open started this week... and it reminded me of the time I got to play on those exact courts just days after the tournament ended.
Still can't believe how good the courts felt. Video link below ๐

The new Head Extreme Pro 98 is in for a full review, and I'm not pulling punches.
First impression? It's heavy. Not sluggish, but you feel it in the grip right away, especially if you've been swinging something like the Wilson Defyer, which moves through the air like nothing. The paint job is awesome, the feel off the string bed is genuinely one of my favorites ever, and the control it offers is real.
But here's the thing: this frame has shifted.
It's playing more like a modern Prestige now. Control-first, with less pop and less spin than what you'd get out of the Pure Aero 98 or the Defyer.
I have played the two previous versions of this mold, won matches with it, and it still feels like home in my hand. But I won't be making the switch full time, mainly because it's not giving me the depth he wants compared to my Speed Tour.
Bottom line: if you're an advanced player who wants a control-oriented frame and knows how to use your body to generate pace, this is worth a serious look. Just know exactly what you're getting into before you pull the trigger.

I'll be upfront...the Wilson Defyer 98 Pro has one flaw. At the net, specifically on low volleys and touch situations below the waist, it felt a little weak. Like the racquet just couldn't hold up the way I needed it to when I had to rely purely on angle and stability.
That's the honest part.
Now here's the thing: I believe a small amount of lead tape fixes it. I haven't confirmed that yet, since I didn't want it to affect the review, but that's my read.
Because everything else about this frame is genuinely exceptional. The sweet spot is massive for a 98 and you can mis-hit and still hit a quality ball. Depth comes easily whether you're swinging hard or backing off. Flat serves off this thing have a sound to them I haven't heard from another frame. You can play flat or load up spin and switch between the two on a dime, which isn't something a lot of racquets let you do.
Dad even hit with it and he is a 4.0 player in his 50s and came back with the same reaction I had. Easy depth, good maneuverability, loved it on serve.
I've been playing with the Speed Tour, and I lean toward modern traditional frames, like the Extreme Tour, the Radical, the Speed Tour. This fits that world but takes it somewhere further. I genuinely think Wilson was missing a frame like this, and they nailed it on the first try.
Top-two racquet of the year for me. Possibly number one right now.

I got to hit with Novak Djokovic's actual racquet, the GOAT's racquet, match used.
After playing with Sasha Zverev's racquet, I thought I had a sense of what it's like to hit with a Grand Slam champion's frame. Novak's was a completely different experience and honestly, a much harder one. There's a reason this thing is built for basically nobody but him.

Curious what you all think.. would you want to try hitting with a pro's exact racquet, or does that sound like a recipe for frustration? ๐

4 Exercises Every Tennis Player Should Do

Ha, had to share this.. my dad (54) tried the 5 exercises we use for tennis fitness in our
new garage gym, and the unassisted pull-ups did not go smoothly. ๐
We built this space to show club players that fitness doesn't have to mean hour-long gym
sessions, just a handful of the right moves done consistently.
