With the gyms closing down, a "different" Christmas approaching, and 2020 being a rough year it's more important than ever to take care of your mental health. This is why I challenge you to bundle up and go for a nice, winter walk every day. Even if it's only for 15 minutes. Walking has many benefits, both physical and mental. So, back away from your laptop/phone/tablet and get some fresh air.

Sleep has always been easy for me, so I've never really, truly appreciated how integral it is on fitness. If you're training hard and eating right, but not getting the results you deserve... Check that clock. You're not only missing out on physical gains, but you're probably only operating at partial mental capacity. Put down the Netlix and get to bed. Nothing important happens between 9pm-11pm anyway.

Boring tip, but more important than most lifters realize.

Testing out the new toy before I unleash it on the clients. Thought I'd buy a little speed sled before I decide to buy a full prowler. Fun times ahead!

💥FAT BURNING SUPPLEMENTS💥

🌵I've always said, if there was a legit fat burning supplement that *really* worked and all you had to do was drive to the closest GNC, snag it off the shelf, and drop $99...I would buy it. 100%.

🦄Because, believe me, I would much rather drop a fist full of cash for a quick and easy fat burning pill than put in the days and weeks and months and years it takes to change your body. And while it might sound strong or noble to say, "I value the hard work and time and blah blah blah..." the supplement industry is a multi-BILLION dollar per year ecosystem so, clearly, most of us are still looking for that "quick fix" and are willing to spend inordinate amounts of time and money trying to find it.

🐿Here's the deal >>>> you know there isn't a single pill, shake, powder, potion, doodad or humdinger that's going to burn the extra fat off your body. You logically know that. So much so, in fact, I bet if you bought a pill and it actually worked you would flip out because, deep down, you didn't expect it to really make a difference.

☕️It's not the fun or sexy or marketable answer but the truth is you know what to do. Strength train 2-4x/week. Do some metabolic work 2-4x/week. Eat mostly whole, "real" foods (lots of fruits, veggies, protein). And prepare for the long-haul. Because in this game, patience always wins.

🍝Most importantly, don't quit. Never ever ever give up. No matter what. Because, trust me, there are going to be some tough days. Challenging beyond belief. But don't let that stop you. Don't let the hard times keep you from getting what you want. Keep your head down, nose to the grindstone, work hard, and never fu***ng quit.

🙏❤️I hope this helps and, as always, any questions leave em below 💪

The temptation and risk of being a one-sport, year-round athlete 05/11/2017

This is an important article for parents with young kids. Enrolling them in multiple different sports and activities will not only make them better athletes, but better humans.

The temptation and risk of being a one-sport, year-round athlete Volleyball coach Jay Mooney believes he is fighting the good fight against sport specialization, which is limiting opportunity and athletic function in our youth. He wants his players to be athletes first, volleyball players second. The second in a four-part series by the Citizen’s Wayne Scanl...
