Yesterday’s Training
Just having fun! You should too! 😊
There’s countless benefits to movement and getting our heart rates elevated. I feel like a broken record every time I mention it but maybe that one extra time I post about it, someone who needs to see it, will and that could change their life.
Now, I completely understand and can relate to not wanting to do anything. Especially now during these uncertain, constantly changing times. Depression, su***de, debt, and so many other terrible things are on the rise, take control of your life. We can do it together!
With all of us (Ontarian’s) being locked down again and now possibly going into ANOTHER stay at home order, it’s the time to get yourself healthy and feeling better. YOU CAN DO IT!
Start by walking 10 minutes a day, then 20, then 30 and so on. This is a marathon NOT a sprint. Build up your capacity, discipline turns into motivation.
Let’s go team!
Have a great day and make a concerted effort to move today. You’ll thank yourself tomorrow.

IF YOU HAVE TIME TO COMPLAIN, YOU HAVE TIME TO TRAIN.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand and can relate to the feelings of depression, anxiety, comparing ourselves, overwhelming tasks etc. But, that does not excuse us from the responsibilities that we have. So why not help ourselves feel better in order to perform those duties optimally.
You’ll feel so much better if you’ve looked after yourself, even if it’s for 20 minutes while your baby sleeps and your multitasking doing other things. They all chalk up as wins on the score board, building up our confidence and discipline. Which then during hard times you can pull from and use as motivation.
Keep grinding and battling, take peace in knowing that the war with ourselves never ends, growth is constant, but we will prevail.

Reach for the stars, otherwise what’s the point!
Discipline = Motivation
Don’t slow down cuz the weekends here or the weather is poopy. Find work arounds, solve the problem in order to allow you to get the job done.
We got this! Let’s go fam! ( I never say that word out loud but it seems like it fits here 😂)
Have a great Friday everyone!

VALUES
Everyday I try to be the best version of myself that I can be. I know I don’t always succeed. But it’s not about succeeding everyday, it’s about improvement. Whether that is being better a parent, partner, son, a human, or a trainer. I want to be the best for those around me, but those around me also push me to be the best I can be. Just merely through their existence.
If you have a few solid core values to live by then you don’t need a specific goal to push you to be better. You have those values, and the people that those values affect. For me, that’s enough.
Stop looking for all of this fluff “motivation” out there. Look to those closest to you. Be better for you and them.

ADDING MORE KINDLING
A huge thanks to .sarnia for lending me a rower, 2 kettlebells and a 70lb D-ball during this lockdown again!! 🙌🏻
•
It’s honestly INSANE to me that the 2 main industries that are required to be closed again are fitness and dine in restaurants. As of March 15th we went into the “grey zone” for a minimum of 2 weeks. Malls are still allowed to be open though!!! 🤷♂️🤦🏼♂️ Our health is being manipulated, physical and mental.
•
In home training is definitely an adjustment. Sharing a space (our garage) that is used for a flower business and storage is very tough. I know summer will make that easier as I can take things out there more consistently. So transitioning my training from a top notch facility like .sarnia to my in home training is difficult to navigate mentally.
•
Running is a saviour during this and I’m so thankful I have that. I guess I was at a point previously where I wasn’t thankful, I was angry and bitter. More so because of the fact that this pandemic took my job when I had a new baby at home. That defeat let the victim mentality creep in, for longer than I should’ve let it. The negative feedback loop consumed me.
•
I do have to remind myself that slip ups happen and it’s apart of the process. To not let my thoughts get too harmful that it affects my productivity and drive.
•
Slip ups are almost like back stops, if you are off track and not fully equipped for the task it can take you further than you should go. But it’s a reminder to stop and get your s**t together. The learned experience is necessary step in the process.
•
All I know is that it’s more kindling for the fire now.
To anyone else feeling similar just keep pushing. We’ll get through it together.

MINDSET*
It’s so easy to let our minds put limits on our own potential and capacity. Do not let your mind talk you out of challenging yourself and getting uncomfortable.
I haven’t been running very long, I started in April of 2020, taking it more seriously with my training and making plans to run some races to challenge myself.
I’ve been building up capacity again since getting through the rut I was in earlier this year. My mind got the better of me then, and thats okay, it happens, its going to happen again. But, we can't let it completely stop us from pushing forward. Its okay to hit a speed bump and slow down, and if you need some repairing after that speed bump, take it. But do your darnedest to keep pushing, you have people that need you, so be your best for them and yourself.
With running, it hasn’t been too tough building back up. But, this weekend I was only going to run a 5k. A buddy asked me to get together and hit a run. I told him my plan and he said, “let’s do 10”. Without even thinking, I said “alright f**k ya let’s do it”. Being honest with myself I should’ve planned to do that myself. As much as I challenge myself with my training program weekly I still have moments where I need to rethink if I’m really challenging myself. We ran this whole 10k pretty much talking the entire time. Catching up. My training has come a long way and that run proved it.
DON'T SELL YOURSELF SHORT! Take the hard road. That is the only way to become resilient.
What did you challenge yourself with this weekend?!?

Definitely don’t recommend squatting in these NB shoes. Should’ve switched out but the black on black was too fresh 😂😂
Those DL to high pulls are interesting. I am fairly new to them so working on feeling better moving through them. Got some work to do. But I’ll get there.
