Thanks to everyone who participated in our annual Swiss Style Tournament. We had a 4 way tie for 1st place in the Under 16 category. Split between

The Open category was won by Sam Seth (winner 2024,2025,) winning all 6 games. CJ Singh squeezing in 2nd with a .5 point lead over the next five players who completed with a score of 4.

Our club meets weekly on Tuesday evenings 6-8pm at 901 the Rapids Pkwy. ♟️

This Thursday April 23rd, the Lambton Chess Club will meet for the first time at Cosmos Cafe in Wyoming 7-9pm. It will be a weekly meeting, same time , same place each week. It will all be informal, show up and leave as you please. No membership fees, but you’re encouraged to support the business with a purchase of a refreshment or food 🙂. We will get an idea of interest and determine whether we need more boards etc. Tell your friends and family.

The 4th annual Chess Club tournament will be held May 23rd. Free for all ages, all experience levels welcome. 😁

First time I’ve ever played against someone who didn’t look at the board the entire game. I was skeptical he would be able to keep track of all the pieces in his head. When I called out my move, Knight d7, Sam asks “which knight” it’s was incredible. With no satisfactory defence against checkmate, I resigned.

Sofia and Oakley played a 30 min + 3 sec match last night. Although slightly down material, Sofia maintained a significant positional advantage throughout the game.
Using his ingenuity, Oakley developed a quick mating attack, aligning Bishop and Queen along the a8-h1 diagonal. Unable to coordinate a timely defence against this attack, Oakley delivered the Dark Queen into the castled position with immediate checkmate.

Awesome game 👏

Chess Club will be on tonight. Last week there was a slight memory lapse which led to these dedicated members being locked out. They played outside anyways 😁.
