-All three in Canada’s Wrestling Hall of Fame.
-Dean Schmeichel (5x), Justin Abdou(9x), and Lyndsay Bélisle (8x) senior national champion.
-Dean and Justin Commonwealth gold
-Lindsay Pan-Am gold, World Cup gold and silver medallist at world championships.
-All of them international medallist and winning tournaments.
-Justin just finished head wrestling coaching career at Simon Fraser University this year.

Congrats to all that competed in the U15 to Masters provincials. It was a good opportunity for our older athletes get on the mats before nationals in 3 weeks. And in what is becoming an annual tradition thanks to Colin Wist some of the old timers entered in the masters and seniors division. Very cool to see MWC dad Matt Craddock get on the mat and get a handful of matches , coach Bryan Blackwell test himself against one of the country’s best young wrestlers and Colin put on a leg ride clinic.

Brooklyn Boutin won her first provincial title! Jacob Wist, Clay Andres and Zain Anwar had one of their best days of wrestling so far this season and Arthur Ilchenko and Tristan Bradford gained some valuable experience.

That’s a wrap for the 2025/2026 season.
Thank you so much to the families and volunteers for making the 2026 provincial championships a successful and well run event. This was our first time hosting an event and they nailed it!

Our kids absolutely left it all on the mat and it that was the best effort out of the group all season. We finished the day season with 20 medals overall including 9 provincial champions.

This season we had 9 provincial champions, that is officially more than the total number of athletes (8) that we had at our first provincial championships in 2022.

We had 20 provincial medalists this season, that is higher than our enrolment in 2024.

This was all made possible by the families who believe in our program and Modern Martial Arts Center for treating us so well. Thank you.

There’s a change to practice time on Saturday. We will be training at 11:30am NOT 1:00pm. With the change I encourage everyone to go check out the SHSAA provincial championships Saturday afternoon at Evan Hardy and chear on some of our alumni.
