Obituary information for Karen Margaret Gochnauer 08/28/2024

This is such a great loss to me and my Yellowknife Highland dance family. Karen was my fellow teacher at the Spence School of Highland Dance. She was a ball of energy, ever with a smile, and I don’t think I ever saw her upset. She was the North’s Irish Jig queen. I have the fondest memories of her sewing her dance costume in the backseat as we drove the 2021kms from YK to West Ed Mall for the 2000 Canadian Highland Championships sharing a healthy snack😉🫛. She was a great friend and an ambassador for Highland and Scottish Country Dancing in the North. Donations can be made in Karen’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. She will be missed and fondly remembered by many. Until we meet again.
