The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN) commends the Government of Canada for their commitment to and continued support of COPSIN, as announced by the Honourable Adam van Koeverden, Secretary of State for Sport, today/yesterday in Winnipeg.
The Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba (CSCM) welcomed Secretary van Koeverden on Thursday, where he announced announced more than $17 million in funding for the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN) in 2026-27, which includes an additional $5.4 million this year.
This investment will enhance the support athletes receive, giving them greater access to physiology, nutrition, mental performance, sport medicine and expert coaching.
“The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network welcomes Sport Canada’s new investment. This funding recognizes the important role our institutes play in Canada’s sport system and strengthens our ability to work with National Sport Organizations, the COC, the CPC and other partners. We look forward to putting these resources to work in ways that deliver clear results for athletes, coaches and the communities we serve.”
- Matt Barr, Executive Director, Canadian Sport Centre Manitoba, on behalf of the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN)

When reaching for the Olympic and Paralympic stage, every ounce of support matters.

One program that helps Canadian Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls is the Petro-Canada’s Fuelling Athlete and Coaching Excellence Program. It’s intended for athletes who are on the pathway to representing Team Canada but don’t yet qualify for government funding.

Among those named to receive this pertinent grant are two Saskatchewan athletes and a coach.

Congratulations to water polo athlete and coach duo Clara Milleker-Shyiak and Cyril Dorgigne, as well as Para table tennis player Thulir Hector!

If you haven't done so yet, there's still time to join us for the remaining workshops of the Lead With Intent Coach Learning Series.

The five-part series, facilitated by Beth Barz, is designed for all levels of coaches with the belief that all coaches can thrive, and that meaningful, sustained coach development happens through reflection, challenge and community, not just content delivery.
