Sault Speed Skating Club

Following our most recent executive meeting, the Sault Ste. Marie Speed Skating Club has made the difficult decision to cease operations permanently.

The executive wishes to express our deep gratitude to the City of Sault Ste. Marie for its longstanding support and, on behalf of the entire club community, for honouring our club icon Art Jennings by naming the oval in his memory. This recognition has meant a great deal to our athletes, coaches, and volunteers over the years.

To our past skaters, club members, dedicated volunteers, and the families who were part of our journey throughout the club’s history—thank you. We hope you continue to cherish the memories of sport, friendship, and lifelong learning that came from your time with the Sault Ste. Marie Speed Skating Club.
Your involvement, passion, and commitment shaped a legacy we will always be proud of.

Up and running! For those not on the email group we have been active for a few weeks. Happy to have the weather on our side so far in 2025.

Hi All! Happy New Year. We are still awaiting cold temperatures for construction of the Art Jennings Oval. Once i confirm with the City of SSM we are closer to completion, i will share our defined schedule. Tentatively, we are looking at several weeknight times around 6PM. Cheers!

Hi Everyone

Based on interest from families and some discussion we have decided to focus our program on practical ice time once the oval is ready.

We will cancel the upcoming dry land sessions and launch our season once the ice is in.
Planning more frequent ice times to support skater development and taking advantage of our infrequent winter temperatures.

We will have more information soon on sessions once we confirm with the City.

Join us at 6:00PM this Monday the 21st for an information session. Taking place at the Isabelle Fletcher School Gym. Dryland Sessions will begin the following Monday.
