🚨Due to poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke, the City of Sault Ste. Marie is closing all City-operated outdoor pools, splash pads, and the Downtown Plaza for today 🚨

All outdoor sporting events at City-operated facilities have also been cancelled, including activities and games at Elliott Sports Complex and Strathclair Park.

These precautionary measures have been taken to help protect the health and safety of residents, participants, volunteers, and staff.
Residents are encouraged to limit or postpone outdoor activities, especially strenuous exercise, until air quality improves. Children, older adults, and people with heart or lung conditions are at greater risk from wildfire smoke.

If you experience symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, or eye or throat irritation, move indoors and contact a health care provider if symptoms persist.

The City will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
