I started racing in 2006 because of a comment that was made to me by a racing pigeon fancier . I was introduced to him as a show pigeon guy , his response talking down to me was " Ah , show pigeons are so easy compared to racing pigeons " obviously he was totally ignorant and in the dark about the extent and the requirements of a show pigeon and I am not talking about the racing homers show at Clubs level that we hold around here for fun . I think all his knowledge of show pigeons was the local racing homer shows where its a believed that a blue bar pied is a show pigeon , regardless of any other features of the bird and all the shows were at that level . First thing I thought , well , watch me and my racing career began . A lot of racing pigeon talk and some of the practices I would hear I always thought that had absolute no weight , fanciers had no clue about colors , lots of old wives tales and some totally absurd things that had simple genetic explanations but they believed they were breeding, flying and even health signs . At this time I decided I did not want to know anything about the existing current practices of racing homers , I was going to learn them myself , make my own way . One thing I knew it was how to selectively breed pigeons , I knew pigeon genetics , I knew how to keep them healthy and in perfect condition , I knew how to feed them properly , how to house them for optimum results , all experiences gained from 50 years of breeding show pigeons and breeding over 50 National Champions in Canada , USA and exported with first generations winning National Champions in Australia , Kuwait , Dubai , UAE , South Africa , Bangladesh etc . etc. earning my Master breeder and my Master judge degrees recognized by both Canada and USA . Still breed and show pigeons at a high level and my present passion and focus in racing is OL races , where since 2008 I won over 55 - 1sts / E 1 sts and numerous top money positions , always with one team entered, except once , not a mob, like the self appointed pigeon gods here in Ontario do , topped the Combine numerous times as well from the poorest location in the club , when the executives took my measurement , they told me , don't ever expect to win from here . . All done without practicing any eye signs , wing , tail, throat etc. theories, stuff that I really don't want to know or care to know , never paid over $500 for a pigeon either . Like I keep saying keep it simple , if you don't have the talent and the ability by doing in a simple logical way , complicating things with all these theories out there will not help you at all actually in my opinion it will make it more difficult . Keep it simple .
