Game on ... the 2018 halibut season is open as of March 1st. A great time of year to fish in Victoria and Sooke (just have to dodge the storms :-) )

For those nearby Nanaimo on Friday, you may wish to consider attending this rally, in support of recreational fishing. Conservation is a crucial for everyone -- but it's also important that recreational anglers have a voice in this, alongside the commercial sector and other groups.

Sooke coho derby coming up
We love our road sign. It's been there since the 90's and is a fantastic shade of teal. There are no frills like LED lights, remote controlled type and usually not enough letters to make a message without abbreviating. Just get up on a ladder on your toes while balancing on a slope and hope for the best.
Our favourite part of the road sign though is when other people want to change it.
