Two preseason games.
Two overtimes.
This time, WE FINISHED THE JOB.

REGALS 2 | RIGGERS 1 — FINAL 🏆

After a scoreless first, Leduc opened the scoring before Owen Bashow answered for the Regals, with Jayden Pawluk picking up the helper. From there, nobody gave an inch.

And a special mention has to go to the guy wearing #33.

🥅 BENNETT NEILSON.

When this one turned into a tight, nasty, low-scoring hockey game, Neilson shut the door and kept it shut. 🔒

The boys killed it off. Battled. Scrapped. Took a few penalties. Gave a few back.

Then we needed FIVE ROUNDS of a shootout to finally settle the damn thing. 😂

And when the dust cleared...

REGALS WIN. 👑

Preseason? Yep.

Did we still want that one after Friday night?

YOU BET YOUR ASS WE DID.

1–1 against Leduc.
Both decided after regulation.

Riggers answer with three straight.

Same barn.
Same puck drop.
48 hours later and absolutely nobody has had enough of each other yet.

Tell that to the two teams who already needed overtime to settle absolutely nothing.

🚨 FINAL — RIGGERS 3 | REGALS 2 OT

Well… apparently “it doesn’t count in the standings” didn’t mean we had to make it relaxing. 😂

The Regals opened up a 2–0 lead with goals from Jackson Haugan and Nathan Johnson, before the Riggers answered with two of their own to send a tight-checking game to OT.

No scoring in the third.
A little extracurricular activity.
A five-minute major tossed in for good measure.

Yep. Preseason hockey is back. 😂

Leduc eventually ended it 3:52 into overtime to take it 3–2.

Would we rather have the W? Absolutely.

But for the first game of September, there was plenty to like.

New faces. New combinations. Compete was there.

Game one in the books.
Foundation’s getting poured. 🧱

New season. New faces. Same terrible life choices that led us all to Junior B hockey.

A mix of returning Regals, new blood and some young guns getting their first taste of Junior hockey.

The 2026/27 Regals get their first taste of game action TONIGHT as the LA Riggers roll into Heavy Metal Place for Exhibition Game #1.

New blood. Returning Regals. New attitude.
And the first chance to see what we’ve been building. 🧱

Nicholas “Chucker” Laschuk and James Cooper taking in the Grey vs. White game and apparently evaluating the next generation of Regals.

So naturally, they spent the night critiquing everyone’s offensive decisions.

Coop was reportedly heard saying, “Gotta bury that.”

Buddy… you had ONE as a Regal. 😂

Chucker wisely focused his scouting report on the important stuff:

“Kid’s got potential… but can he take 46 PIM in 16 games?”

Always good having the alumni back in the barn.

Once a Regal, always a Regal. 👑

GREY vs. WHITE — THIS WASN’T A SCRIMMAGE.

It’s been a long time since the Regals held an intersquad game like this—maybe ever.

If this was our first look at the 2026/27 group, we learned plenty.

New blood. New attitude. A new foundation.

Grey came flying out of the gate, building a 3–1 first-period lead with speed, skill and some seriously smart hockey. White settled in during the second, answered back and pulled within one at 5–4.

Then the third period got personal.

The pace stayed high, the physicality went up and suddenly nobody remembered this was an intersquad game. White erased the deficit, and Williams buried the game-winner as Team White completed the comeback with an 8–6 victory.

Desnoyers was all over the scoresheet with a HATTRICK, while Vaughn also finished with three points. Healey answered back with a HATTRICK also for Grey, Hillgardner added two, and both Bashow and Haugan converted penalty shots.

Plenty of others got involved, including Pennoyer, Sicard, Boulter, Pawluk and Johnson.

Two very different styles. One highly competitive hockey game.

The names on the jerseys may change—but the want, desire and compete better not.

That looked like a group ready to build something.

No looking back. The foundation starts now.
