September's Virtue of the Month: Respect
Respect is something we practice every time we come onto the mat.
We bow when we enter the dojo and when we begin practice. We listen when someone is teaching. We take care of our training partners and give them the opportunity to learn. We look after the dojo and the things we use together.
For our students, respect isn't just something we talk about. It's something they get many small opportunities to practice.
This month, we'll be paying a little more attention to those moments.

The Dojo will be closed this week for our end-of-summer break.
Regular classes will resume with our school-year schedule on Tuesday, September 8.
We hope everyone enjoys the last bit of summer, and we look forward to seeing you back on the mats in September!

And that's a wrap on our Kids Summer Camps for 2026!
We finished our last camp of the summer yesterday after another week of Aikido, games, challenges, and plenty of time together on and off the mat.
Thank you to all the kids who joined us this summer. Some came for one camp, some came back for more, and it was great having all of you here.
And thank you to the parents who trusted us with your kids and made these weeks possible.
We had a lot of fun this summer.
See you back on the mat!

A lot of learning in Aikido happens with another person.
Kids practice techniques with different partners, learn both sides of the movement, and gradually take on more challenging things as they gain experience.
New students aren't expected to know any of this when they arrive.
That's what coming to class is for.

A big thank you to Phil for teaching 4 of our Tuesday classes over the summer!
Last night was his final Tuesday with us for the summer, and it's been great having him on the mat and sharing his Aikido with our students.
Thanks, Phil!

Kids & Teens Aikido this fall
Families are starting to plan their activities for the school year, so here's our fall schedule.
Our kids program runs throughout the school year rather than as a fixed fall term. New students can start throughout the year when we have space.
And right now, we have room in all of our kids classes.
If your child is curious about Aikido, their first class is free. They can come try a regular class and see what they think before you decide whether to continue.
Not sure which class is right for your child? Send us a message. We're happy to help.
