Sorensen School of Dance

We are very excited to welcome all of our dance families to the studio this week for SEASON 41! The studio opens tomorrow, September 9. So happy to have a wonderful group of professional and talented teachers again this year.

Today is the deadline to sign up to participate in our Fall show! Please be sure to send us an email if your dancer would like to participate. Rehearsals begin next Friday, September 11! This is always such a fun part of our dance year and a great performance opportunity 👻🎅🏻

We offer modern classes for ages 7+! Classes are filling quickly, it’s not too late to register. Send us an email or message to get started! 💃🏻🕺🏻

Next up for our new teaching staff additions is Miss Anna!

Anna is a Grade 12 student at Holy Heart of Mary high school and has been dancing at Sorensen School of Dance since she was 3 years old. She has trained in a variety of styles such as ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, latin, and the Fit For Dance program. Anna has been part of the competition team for the past 6 years and joined the assisting team 3 years ago. She has also completed Grade 6 exams in ISTD Tap and Cecchetti Ballet.

Anna has always had a passion for learning new skills, especially in acro jazz, and is excited to help her students reach their own goals. She loves working with children to help them build confidence and pursue their own passion for dance.

Next up for our new staff announcements is Miss Emma!

Emma is a first year student at Memorial University pursing a Bachelor of Kinesiology. She has been dancing at Sorensen for 15 years and has been a member of the competition team for the past 5 years. Emma has trained in various styles of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, pointe, hip hop, and has been a part of the Fit For Dance program for the past 4 years. Emma has successfully completed her Grade 5 Cecchetti Ballet exam, her Grade 6 ISTD Tap exam, and her Intermediate ISTD Modern exam. Emma has been a teaching assistant at Sorensen School of Dance for the past 3 years and is delighted to be joining the teaching team for the 2026-2027 season!

Next up for our new staff announcements is Miss Mia!

Mia is a first year student at Memorial University, and is hoping to peruse a degree in primary education. Mia has danced at Sorensen School of Dance for the past 12 years, training in tap, modern, jazz, ballet and pointe work. She has been on the competition team for the past 4 years, and in the fit for dance program for the last 6 years. Mia has completed her Grade 6 Cechetti ballet examination, as well as her Intermediate ISTD Modern exam, and Advanced 1 ISTD Tap.
She has been assisting for 3 years, and is excited to continue to share her love for dance!

Happy Wednesday! SSOD dancers Charlotte & Bridget are attending the Sol dance convention this week. We hope you have an amazing time! ☀️👯‍♀️

It’s time to introduce the teaching team for the 2026-2027 season! We have some very exciting new additions to share. First up, Miss Hannah!

Hannah has been dancing at Sorensen School of dance since she was 3. She has experience in numerous styles of dance including: ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, latin jazz, tap, hip hop, and the fit for dance program. Hannah joined the competition team 7 years ago, during her competitive journey she has been awarded with scholarships such as Lighting Elite (2024, 2025) and the Dance Quest Studio Standout (2024), highest marks, special awards, and many placements for her solos. In the fall of 2024 Hannah was apart of the Lighting Elite Holiday Spectacular in Disney World. Last spring she successfully completed her Intermediate ISTD modern and Grade 6 Cecchetti Ballet examinations. Hannah joined the teaching assistant program in 2023 and is thrilled to be apart of this seasons teaching staff!
