Final stats for the season:
What a year for the Highlanders!
Including scrimmage and exhibition games, they won 34 of 43 games in the 2023/24 season with a mind-numbing 555 positive point differential. In tournament and league play they had 31 wins to 6 losses for an amazing 84% winning percentage and took home championships in the Carl George Memorial, the Waterford Valley and our own Highlander Invitational tournaments.
More than that, throughout the season they demonstrated grit, resilience and character. They and their coaches put in countless hours of time developing and they did the school and their families proud.

Heart 78, St. Kevin's 88
Pundits were worried about this one for the Highlanders: They were still riding high on the thrill of their weekend home-tournament win and were going against the team they beat by 26 points just 4 days ago in that tournament.
Just as feared, the boys were sluggish early and got behind vs a surging Mavericks team that had everything to gain from the game. The Highlanders were behind by 11 after two frames.
They fought back brilliantly in front of the home fans in the second half, and with just 3:15 to go, they finally got the lead at 75-74. Unfortunately they ran into foul difficulties and couldn't hold on.
A bit of a let down, this being the last game of the season, but this was a remarkable year for this remarkable group of young men.

The Highlanders are defending their Robin Short City League championship tomorrow (Wednesday) April 17 6:00 pm at home vs St. Kevin's.
This may be the last chance to watch the boys play this year so come on out!

Champions!
The Highlanders will end their tournament play this season on the same high note they started it - with a great championship win. This one was their own tournament which has eluded them for some time which made it all the sweeter.

Heart 93, Holy Spirit 78
In a great performance, the Highlanders held off the skilled team from CBS. It was within just 2 points with minutes to go but Daniel Stevens iced the game with 3 consecutive scores from deep and earned player of the game honors.
The boys play for the gold tomorrow at 11 am vs Gonzaga B.

Morning games are not always our guys' strength, but today, the Highlanders' fast attack worked brilliantly right off the bat and it was the team from The Goulds that looks sluggish. a 29-14 advantage after the first frame was all the lead Heart needed. Player of the game was Simmo Togal.
Heart finishes the first round 1st in their division and will play 2nd place in the other division in the crossovers this evening at 6:00 pm.
