month continues! Feel your feelings, men! Get in touch with how they show up in your body to better understand and help those around to understand you better. “Manning up” does not require us to bury feelings, but to be brave to get to know them better. I have had to learn how to feel those feelings and am forever grateful for it. It’s a process and journey, but one that’s very rewarding!

June is month! Check in on the men around you. This connection can save a life as men account for nearly 75% of su***de deaths in Canada. Buddy up with the men in your life, create connection through shared activity, “man up” by having emotional conversations, and remember there are lots of supports out there!

Loving the nice weather the last couple of days! What an impact sunshine has on our lives (hopefully it continues). Starting the day with physical activity is such a huge thing for me both physically and mentally! Looking forward to more morning walks, especially as my summer hours kick in this week (no Fridays in clinic)!

1+1 = 2
1+2 = 3
1+3 = 5
1+4 = 5
1+5 = 6
We tend to be drawn to the equation with the wrong result that we overlook the ones we got right! Self-discovery is not about becoming a “perfect” version of yourself. It is about learning to appreciate who you already are while continuing to grow through experiences, challenges, setbacks, and wins.
Some days you will feel confident. Some days you will question yourself. Both are part of the process.
Perfection keeps us stuck chasing an impossible standard. Growth happens when we allow ourselves to be human, to learn, and to keep moving forward anyway.
Appreciate your progress. Appreciate your effort. Appreciate the version of you that kept going even when things felt uncertain.

Mental performance is just as important as physical performance. Confidence, focus, emotional regulation, communication, preparation, and resilience are all skills that can be developed — not just traits athletes are expected to “have.”
Athletes spend countless hours training their bodies, but building mental skills can often be the difference in handling pressure, overcoming adversity, staying consistent, and performing at their best when it matters most.
Through one-on-one sessions, I work with athletes to help build an individual mental skills profile tailored to their sport, goals, strengths, and challenges. Sessions can support areas such as:
• Confidence & self-talk
• Focus & concentration
• Emotional regulation
• Performance anxiety & pressure
• Leadership & communication
• Motivation & routines
• Injury recovery & mindset
• Balancing sport, school, goals, work, and life
Every athlete’s experience is different, and creating a safe space to talk, reflect, and develop practical strategies can have a huge impact both in sport and outside of it.
Available for athletes, teams, and organizations — virtually or in person. Feel free to reach out with questions or to chat further.

Continuing with Mental Health Week, fortunate to have the opportunity to discuss with an organization across the province about mental wellbeing in the workplace. Reminder during Mental Health Week that connection matters more than perfection!

Also… apparently so do high-quality photos, which I clearly missed the memo on. Between the screenshots and whatever facial expression I was attempting here, we’re just going to call this “authentic marketing.” 😅

One of the most valuable things we can do for mental wellness is create spaces where people feel comfortable having real conversations. Whether that’s in the workplace, locker room, classroom, or around the kitchen table — connection helps people feel seen, supported, and less alone.

I’m continuing to offer opportunities to speak with groups and organizations both virtually and in person on topics related to mental health and wellness, including:

• Mental wellbeing & resilience
• Stress management & burnout prevention
• Emotional regulation
• Work-life balance
• Performance pressure & mindset
• Creating psychologically safe environments
• Mental skills for athletes, teams, and workplaces
• Communication, connection, and support strategies

If your organization, team, or workplace is looking to start meaningful conversations around mental wellness, feel free to reach out.

And next time, I’ll try to upgrade the camera quality… the facial expressions may still be a work in progress. 🤝📸

Teach don’t test! Supporting a child’s language needs is a great way to support their mental health! Great tip!

Love this! Great resource!

This Mental Health Week (May 4–10), NL Health Services is highlighting a simple but powerful way to support well-being: building emotional awareness.

Many of us were never taught how to identify our emotions. We might say we feel “stressed” or “off,” when we’re actually overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated – or even excited.

When we can name what we’re feeling, we create space to respond instead of reacting.

Try it today:
• Pause and ask: What am I feeling right now?
• Use the Emotion Sensation Wheel to find the words
• Notice where you feel it in your body
• Respond with curiosity, not judgment

Supporting children?
Help them build emotional skills early by:
• Naming emotions out loud (“It looks like you’re feeling frustrated”)
• Validating their feelings
• Encouraging expression through play, art, or conversation
