Exploring Chair Pose in a more functional way with a Chair 🪑 Give it a go and let me know how you make out 😊
My hope as a teacher is to leave your feeling more steady, spacious, and resourced from within.
In my classes I encourage students to explore, be playful, and appreciate that we will often all look different doing the same posture.
My approach leans more alignment-oriented meaning that we take time to find our place postures that promotes an inner architecture to offer steadiness and spaciousness within. This can look different for each of us.
We often use props to help with this and I incorporate postures that specifically target releasing spinal tension especially at the root of the spine, the tailbone, and sacrum. This leaves the rest of the spine more available to let go and has a ripple effect throughout the whole body.
Part of this approach also includes being more mindful of using the muscles in your arms and legs. By creating stability in the periphery of the body the spinal muscles have more capacity to be free from effort and let go in postures.
As someone who manages chronic hip and back pain along with hyper-mobile joints, this approach has brought me the most freedom and agency in my practice.
Our Fall session of Align & Release Yoga starts this Monday at 7:30pm.

Bring your baby along as you carve out time to nurture yourself in a class created specifically for the postpartum season.
Mom & Baby Postnatal Yoga 8-week series with Nicole Blackwood starts Oct 1!
This supportive practice helps you reconnect with your body in a space that makes room for feeding, fussing, movement, and rest.
Through yoga postures and functional movement, we create more space and freedom within while easing tension and gradually rebuilding strength.
We pay special attention to areas that often feel overworked or depleted in early motherhood, including the abdominals, shoulders, neck, hips, and low back.
Variations and props are offered so you can meet your body exactly where it is, not where you think it should be.
This class is a beautiful way to ease back into movement, reconnect with your body, and be held in a community of other moms who understand this tender, powerful season.
There is no pressure to bounce back here.
Come exactly as you (and baby) are ♥️
