The English major in me loves to play with language.
I’m making some changes to the language around the Somatic Mindfulness and Inquiry work that I do. I’m simplifying it to Somatic Coaching. It incorporates mindfulness practices, deep inquiry into the body and its patterns and beliefs, and coaching, accountability and action.
I like that there are different ways to access this work so that hopefully there is an approach that works for everyone.
Next up will be website changes but that will have to wait for another day because I need to go outside an pd enjoy the ☀️.

Spring is in the air! I’m excited to start the next session of Yoga that will run through March and April. The Healthy Aging Class offers lots of instruction and modifications.
Please note that there is only 1 space available in Chair Yoga at 10:05am but there is lots of room in the 9am Mat Class.

I thought I’d highlight the Yoga for Healthy Aging class today.
It is a traditional yoga class with gentle warm up movements,
deeper asanas or poses with some seated,some standing and some on the mat,
pranayama or breathwork,
savasanah, co**se pose or a long rest
and meditation, either silent or chanting
There is no prior yoga experience needed. This class is taught with a compassionate, trauma-informed, gentle approach. I will give you lots of modifications, whether you need them or not.

Let’s talk QiGong (pronounced Chee-gong)
There are 3 main branches of QiGong, martial, medical and spiritual. The type I teach is called Healing QiGong and it falls mostly under the medical or preventative category.
Qigong is a standing practice in which the movements emulate nature. We sway like bamboo in the breeze, we glide like a dolphin through water, we fly like a crane, we lumber like a bear. All of the movements are repeated so that your body starts to feel confident, while your mind is given time to get into the flow. For me, it feels like a moving meditation or mindfulness in motion. While there is no experience needed to take a class, it’s interesting to observe and feel the sense of mastery after a few classes when our bodies and minds and breath start to work with more ease and coordination.
All of the Healing QiGong classes that I teach can be modified to be seated or standing or a mix of both. The class begins with gentle, effortless, circular motions to warm up the muscles and open the joints or energy gates. As our bodies and minds settle into the rhythm of class there are slightly more challenging poses and movements that build around a theme or a season. We often finish with a still meditation and some sound healing.

I remember when I first teaching chair yoga. I assumed it would be a little less intense, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. How wrong I was!!
I love the practice of Chair Yoga. It allows you to move your body within safe limits. The mental, emotional and spiritual benefits are exactly the same. It challenges your balance, your stamina, your concentration and way more.

I LOVE creating and facilitating workshops. I’ve been doing it for 12+ years. I feel like I’ve done it all, small intimate groups, mother/daughter, families, charity and volunteer organizations, large women’s gatherings, onsite, offsite, indoor/outdoor spaces, dance/yoga studios, backyards, horse barns, CrossFit gyms, living rooms and many more.
I love imagining the perfect participants and then dreaming a workshop into being that feels personalized and relevant.
What I don’t love is trying to pick the perfect time and place and marketing, who does?!
So moving forward I’ll still plan the occasional workshop but I’d also love to offer the opportunity for you to dream a workshop into being. I’ll give you a list of possibilities and you can pick and choose what suits you and your group best, kind of like an a la carte menu.
