The Jets Built On Ice. Now it’s time to bring them home.
Summerland creator Brad Riemer has captured the road to our inaugural season in The Jets Built On Ice, and this Friday, that story moves onto home ice.
The Summerland Jets will play their first-ever regular-season home game on September 18 against the Osoyoos Coyotes, with opening-day celebrations beginning at 5pm in the Summerland Arena parking lot.
The community tailgate will feature live music from local country artist Dane Bateman, family activities, street hockey, a barbecue, Summerland Jets merchandise and community organizations, along with special guests including former Team Canada Women’s National Team coach Nancy Wilson, former Hockey Canada CEO Bob Nicholson, former NHL goaltender Andy Moog and BCHC Commissioner Jeff Dubois.
Fans will also have the opportunity to sign a Thank You to Summerland Heroes banner during the tailgate. The banner will be brought to centre ice during a special first intermission activation honouring the firefighters, first responders and community members who supported Summerland through the Bald Range wildfire.
Following the first on-ice introduction of the inaugural Summerland Jets roster, Penticton Indian Band Chief Greg Gabriel and Summerland Mayor Doug Holmes will join Bonaparte First Nation Chief Frank Antoine for the ceremonial puck drop.
The home opener caps a milestone week for the new community-owned team, with the inaugural 2026/27 roster being unveiled tomorrow ahead of Friday’s game. Warm-up begins at 6:25pm, opening ceremonies start at 7pm and puck drop follows at approximately 7:10pm.
