We finish every single training session with a scrimmage, no questions asked. While it is obviously the kids' favorite part of practice and super fun for them, it serves a massive developmental purpose for our coaching staff. Throwing them into a live game situation is the absolute best way for us to gauge exactly what they have learned and how much of that technique they are actually applying under real pressure. Wall passes won't prepare you for matchday pressure. In real games, you must scan and assess space instantly. We train players to build spatial awareness and take their first touch away from defenders under tight pressure. Upgrade your match IQ with us.

The car ride home after a bad game can completely destroy a kid's confidence and their love for the sport. If they don't want to talk about their performance, leave it alone until they are ready. Stop comparing them to other teammates, and stop trying to fight their battles with the coach for them. Teach your child to advocate for themselves, focus strictly on their own effort, and be their own biggest competitor.

If your kid's football coach constantly yells at them for making mistakes, you are in the wrong environment. A coach who is overly controlling, uses outdated repetitive drills, and doesn't allow kids to make their own decisions in games will actively destroy their confidence. You need an environment where the coach is positive, energetic, uses modern methods, and allows players to express themselves bravely without fear of messing up. You cannot demand respect from young players if you aren't willing to lead by example yourself. We make it a strict rule that every time a kid walks onto the pitch, they must shake hands and say hi to their teammates, coaches, and parents to actively build character and respect for the game.

Far too many "expired coaches" lead entirely through words, telling kids to do one thing while acting completely unprofessionally themselves.

Put Footballs at their feet and stop making them wait in lines to do pointless physical work without the ball! Time without the ball at Grassroots Football is time well wasted!

Cones do not apply pressure. If there is no decision to make, it is not football training, it is just cardio.

Your kids need to be placed in game-realistic scenarios with live defenders to actually develop their skills under pressure.
