✨ Why We Compete + Dancer of the Event ✨
For our final competition of the season at Evolve Burnaby, we decided to do something extra special—we asked our dancers to nominate a peer who truly embodied our studio values throughout the weekend.
The dancer nominated the most was someone who consistently showed kindness, leadership, positivity, and support to everyone around her.
✨ Our final Dancer of the Event is… Bella Reid! ✨
Here are just a few of the reasons her peers nominated her:
- “Every day she made friends with other girls in the change rooms, went into the theatre to support these studios and cheered as if it were her own. She kept everyone laughing all day long with her positive attitude and just made for a fun day!”
- “I nominate Bella because she was extremely helpful during my quick change. She helped wipe my body paint off, straightened my hair, and made sure I was ready while my mom grabbed water and other things. I was so thankful for all she did.”
- “Bella asked if there was any way she could help lead the ballet group warm-up and help get everyone ready since Miss Stephanie was coming straight from the studio.”
Bella’s peers noticed the little things—the way she stepped up to help, supported those around her, and created such a positive atmosphere all weekend long.
👏 Bella, we are so proud of the leadership, kindness, and joy you bring to YAA. You truly represent what Why We Compete is all about.

***STEP INTO THE STYLE: ACRO*** (Part Three)
Why do we teach acro at Young at Arts?
Because acro helps dancers discover just how strong, capable, and resilient they can be.
Acro builds:
• Strength and flexibility
• Coordination and body awareness
• Confidence and perseverance
• Trust, teamwork, and communication
It challenges dancers to step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and continue growing one skill at a time.
From first rolls and bridges to advanced tricks, lifts, and partnering work, acro teaches dancers that progress doesn’t happen overnight — it happens through patience, hard work, and supporting one another along the way.
One of the most special parts of acro is the teamwork it creates. Partnering skills and group tricks require dancers to trust each other, communicate, and work together toward a shared goal.
At YAA, acro is about so much more than tricks. It’s about building confident dancers who are willing to challenge themselves, celebrate growth, and encourage the people around them.
Whether your dancer is just beginning or already loves to tumble, there’s a place for them in acro at YAA.
Ready to flip, fly, and grow with us?

**Why We Compete + Dancer of the Event**
We are super excited to announce our Dancer of the Event from The One Langley!
At YAA, competition is about so much more than scores or placements. It’s about building confidence, supporting one another, and learning how to encourage the people around us both on and off the stage.
That’s why we recognize dancers who truly embody our studio values—those who lead with kindness, positivity, and heart.
✨ Our Dancer of the Event is… Priyanshi! ✨
Priyanshi was chosen for the incredible encouragement she showed her peers throughout the competition weekend. One moment especially stood out—when she overheard another dancer say, “I can’t do that,” Priyanshi immediately responded with:
“You’re so close, don’t give up!”
Those simple words made such an impact and perfectly represent the kind of environment we strive to create at YAA: one where dancers lift each other up, believe in one another, and celebrate growth together.
👏 Congratulations, Priyanshi! We are so proud of the kindness, encouragement, and positivity you bring to our team.
