There's all kinds of things I can teach in fitness.

The one I'm not sure I could teach someone is the fighting spirit, the warrior spirit, that mental toughness that goes deep, the one that refuses to give up when things get tough and you want to quit, but you don't because something inside you, something deep in you, that toughness, that no quit mentality, that relentlessness.

Here we have the 2nd runner up in the race for the 2026 MVP Most Valuable Performance Award.

There was someone else who was leading in first. But he quit. He didn't want to push anymore to reach his ultimate goal. He went far for 8-9 months and did great during that time. Only had a few months left to complete his goal of 1 year consistency. Quitting is easier and that's why some people choose that path. Once someone really sets their mind to something, it's hard to change.

But there's some people who set a goal and they hunt it down like they are hunting down food like their life depends on it.

The show goes on. So here we have the 2nd place runner up for 2026, who is now leading the way as the champion for 2026. But he still has to surpass the 8-9 month mark of fitness routine consistency to secure it.

He's still not there. He still has proving to do but he has proved enough so far to be in the running for 2nd place still and now has a chance to be a champion.

Becoming a yearly champion is extremely difficult in anything. Many things have to line up that year. If you have a chance of becoming a champion of the year, don't let it slip, because you may never get that ever again in that area. To throw something away when you are so close to becoming a champion, it's a big missed great opportunity.

But it's much more than that. To know that you set a goal, and be able to look at yourself in the mirror, and say, I DID IT! I proved to myself I DID IT! It's something very fulfilling. And to top it off, to be recognized and a CHAMPION OF THE YEAR in anything, it shows how others perceive you.

Self perception is important, but when others see so highly and respect you as a champion, it's so special.

Anyone else can still rise to the top. People talk. Only time will tell who was true to what they said.

I've been consistently active every week for my whole life in a mix all kinds of physical activity (gym workouts, competitive sports, rec sports, sports practices, rec activities, just a mix of all kinds of physical activity).

Throughout all these years, if it's one of many things I've learned through experience by working with thousands of people, training with thousands of people, competing against thousands of people, consistency is one of the hardest things for most people.

Yes people get active at this time of the year or that time, sometimes a few months at a time, then off for months or years, then restart at another time, etc. There's a lot of on and offs. Because of this, many people are often chasing a goal as compared to if people can be consistent long term, there is no goal to chase because you are simply maintaining a goal.

For example, I got in shape one time in my life when I was a little kid. Since then, I've never got in shape ever again. I just stay at the goal.

Most people are often chasing fitness goals. Ideally, it would be way better if people got to their goal and stayed at their goal. We want to live in our goal, not always chase it. Be the goal is what I'm saying.

With that said, I'll tell you what I noticed about people. People say all kinds of things about what they are going to do.

Guess what? Some people follow through. Also some people do not. You never really know who will honor their word until it's actually been proven.

I've met people who are so serious saying I'm going to do this and that. And then they barely prove anything. They talk the talk but not much more.

I've also met people who are so serious saying they are going to do this and that, and they actually do this and that! They walk the talk.

Some talk the talk while some walk the talk. Who will you be!? The talker or the walker!?

Information is everywhere. Wise people, stop, absorb, and process good information and apply it once it crosses them.

Many people when younger, in the 30s and under often exercise and eat better to look nice.

With age, for anyone in the 30s and up, health and function starts to matter more.

Many people are reactive in their approach meaning when something bad happens to their look, health, or function, they take action. This is not a good approach because it takes more work to correct something once it’s damaged.

The smart approach is to be proactive. This is easier. Do not wait until something had happens to your look, health, or function to do something. Ongoing maintenance in exercise and balanced eating is what is going to keep you in a better/good place in these areas.

Speaking of health and function, exercise prevents dementia - the cognitive decline in cognitive/mental abilities. This often happens in older age, but it can happen to people in the 40s and 50s.

Notice how some older people forget things? Notice how their thinking is not that sharp or logical? Notice how their reasoning doesn’t reason as well? Notice how their thinking is slower? These are signs of cognitive decline.

Good news. Most conditions are never purely genetic. They are often to some level a combination of genetics and lifestyle.

With that said, exercise can prevent or delay the onset of dementia. Exercise increases blood flow to the brain, simulates growth factors that protect brain cells. Exercise prevents the shrinking brain and protein build ups associated with memory loss. Exercise promotes the growth of new neurons and connections between brain cells. Exercise reduces inflammation in the brain which helps avoid Alzheimer's.

Major risk factors for dementia – type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Exercise removes these compounds that threaten brain health.

If you pay the price now, you will live better now and later. If you do not, we all see what often happens to many people who do not.

Here's a client, an anomoly, one that deviates from the norm in consistency.

She started a fitness routine in 2013 - 2026 so 14 years subtract 4 years (2021 - 2024), so 10 years of being consistent in a fitness routine generally week to week year round.

10 years, week to week, year round, of consistency in a fitness routine is rare and great.

Consistency in a fitness routine is a struggle for most.

She made that weakness, also once her weakness, her strength. Whatever weakness you have, attack it, work it, until it becomes a strength.

This is why at 6'2, when she first started she was over 180 pounds. Within a few months, she was in the 170s, and since then she's maintained in the 170s and sometimes 160s. Healthy body fat percent too. For the last 14 years, she's never tipped back over 180 pounds. One of the less than 10 women I've seen ever that's had visible abs over 30 done naturally. Only maintained for a few months, but still done it.

It's one thing to lose weight, but it's greater to keep it off for years and other areas of fitness good.

Where do people go wrong with consistency? Many reasons.

Here's some things I know about being consistent in fitness week to week, year round, for my whole life, and what I have observed in others.

1 They have someone or some people pushing them and keeping them accountable.

2 They show up when they want and and times when they don't want.

3 They have the all or some mindset. If they can go all out, they will. If they cannot, they will still do some.

4 They don't have crazy unrealistic expectations. They understand it's a regular part of life.

5 They have tight standards. If their body shifts a little, they catch it fast, and do something about it fast.

6 It's not just about discpline. They enjoy exercise.

7 They have foresight. They understand that if they don't take care of their bodies, there's going to be health problems later.

8 They are open minded enough to learn, humility, humble, adapt, and evolve.

9 They have honor. When they say something, they have a real intention on following through.

10 Those who sacrifice what many will not for that thing, will have that thing many will not.

We are strength training at Langley near Willowbrook Mall 5794 203 St.

How do we all benefit from strength training?

For looks, it helps give the shape and tone you like.

For the health side, muscle and strength can do some things:

Want to live longer? Well, it’s linked to a longer healthier life. Studies show it is a better predictor of lifespan and mortality risk than the BMI.

Want to avoid diseases? Well, type 2 diabetes is rising fast globally and a major challenging public health concern. Muscle regulates blood glucose lowering the chances of type 2 diabetes.

Want to age functionally? Well, muscle and strength keeps you mobile and active so you can function in life.

People want results.

Answer this simple question and you'll either have results or not.

One thing that leads to results is ENOUGH CONSISTENCY FOR LONG ENOUGH. Did you show up consistently enough for long enough?

If you are, you'll see results.

If not, you probably won't see much.

Here are people who have been consistent enough for long enough. They have all had noticeable to good progress.

People from mid 20s to 60s doing it for looks, health, or function.
