Leaders lead.

To raise a strong family strong habits need to be formed and instilled.

With young children they see things. Kids see your daily habits and will learn your routine. Kids will see how genuine the actions are and copy. Make your routine positive. If you want your kids to eat healthy. You eat healthy. If you want your children respectful. Make sure you act respectful. If you want them athletic, do athletic things.

Train and exercise to normalize movement. Training and exercise is powerful. You are enhancing their body.

You are developing
➖Discipline
➖Stronger muscles
➖Denser bones
➖Quicker mind
➖Coordinarion
➖Speed
➖Stronger metabolism
➖Fun
➖Body awareness

These attributes sounds like the abilities of a super hero. Because they are. The average person isn’t strong. As soon as you do a little more than a average person you already become above average and who wants to live in a ‘C’ world when all You have to do is put a bit of effort in and you will become a ‘A’.

Move your body. Walk, run, move weights, shadow box, throw a ball, hike.

A lot of these disciplines and attributes do not need to be taught kids just need to see it being done in front of their eyes. Children need guidance, steer them in the right direction and they will have a positive life

Let’s GO!

Training is a bit structured and working on something specific.

Playing is doing what you want with physical (tag), imaginary (drawing) or a combination of both (super hero’s).

Both are explorations of the human body. While playing and discovering yourself you are figuring out what you actually enjoy. If you enjoy what you are playing (hockey, climbing, swimming) you will pursue it and it will make playing and training way easier and much more fun.

For myself I loved to wrestle, that was my playing. To make myself better at wrestling i supplemented training into my life through weight training and athletic training to make me a better wrestler.

Evelyn likes to hang up side down swinging. This has really help develop a lot of strength in her core which makes it easier to perform moves in gymnastics.

Training is important to me because it made my strengths stronger and my weakness stronger.

Train with us today. Let’s get stronger together.

Let’s GO!

Growth

To make vegetable growth happen we need a combination of factors. Sun, water, nutrient dense soil, spacing for vegetables to grow, temperature and love.

Without one you will still have growth but we are not hitting maximal growth and potential. Miss two and you will lose even more growth and potential.

Plants are no different than humans. Both are complex systematically and both require a lot of effort to hit maximal potential and growth.

As complex as humans are we also need some basic factors to hit growth.
We need nutrition, water, education, and sun. For maximal potential on top of basic needs we need love, discipline, purpose, emotional intelligence, and self worth.

If we humans miss a factor we will still grow but to what capacity? No matter what we will age and grow but have we hit maximal potential?

Get your nutrients in you. Get your exercise. Be strong. Educate yourself. Be smart. Understand yourself. The more you know yourself only you can get the most out of you.

Unlike vegetables if we don’t give vegetable seeds sun, water, and dirt. The seed won’t sprout. We will grow and age even with sub par nutrients, no sun and barely water but have we hit maximal potential to live your best life.

Think about your life and where you are heading. You start today

Let’s GO!

I live a busy life. We all do. Raising children, getting them to their activites, running our business. Life is busy.

It is very easy to get caught up with the busyness of life, staying in work mode and being stressed. Being in work mode makes it difficult to see the light at the end of tunnel because that tunnel is never ending. I can see where people get into a habitual self sabotage because that is someone’s break or knowing that the end of their day is complete or people Use drugs to produce energy to keep to state of energy going.

We all read about ways to destress yourself. Go to the forest, exercise, and breathe. Now let’s apply this to our life.

I personally enjoy being in nature. I like the calmness of the forest, I like all The different weather. Give me rain, snow, wind or sun. I enjoy hearing the birds chirp, I like sweating and getting dirty.

We get out on Saturdays. We spend time as a family hiking or trail running. I enjoy the running a bit more. But you will find what works better for you. I like the difficulty of running because it makes me focus on my breathing. If you can’t breathe while you run there will be difficulty in your activity so before anything else I establish a constant deep Breathe. That’s the first battle. Once you conquered your first battle Of establishing breathing the activity now becomes easy. My body, lungs; heart are all at one. As I’m running I have to watch out for twigs, roots coming out of the ground, rocks, Water and elevation change. This is the resistance in the run. You will Have to Get over, under, around to get to your destination. This is your resistance in your run. Running while managing your breathe work and looking out for resistance is making you live in the moment. You can think about other things but you will Get Distracted and than your breathe work may fail. Once you break the routine of deep Breathing while Running it makes the job difficult. Stop what you are doing and re-establish breathing. Walk if you have to.

Once complete. Your mind is calm. Your body is calm but your lungs and heart are working hard. The heart will pump Blood to where it is needed. So now you have circulation going on throughout your whole body. Your lungs expanded so now you can take deeper breathes in. Your joints release synovial fluid. You have to make your mind and body work hard to feel relaxed .

Now if you need to go back in your mind and workout the things that’s needed to make you next week Strong. All the things that gave me trouble the last week how could fix that so if I had to see that problem twice I now know how to conquer that problem.

This is my Saturday. If I can do this everyday I would. The problem is that this is time
Consuming. So Saturday is a must. We take daily walks. I apply this to walking.

Apply what I do but to yourself. If you can’t trail run you don’t have to. Find something that gets you into a meditative state where your body and mind works as one. I tried crossing the legs and deep breathing. This doesn’t work for me But movement does.

Need help. I got you

Strength

Strength comes in all forms. Physical and mental. Sometimes they play off each other. Sometimes they do not.

Physical strength is the measure of an individual’s exertion of force on physical objects or their ability to move themselves.

Mental strength is the cognitive and emotional skill of reframing negative thoughts and adverse circumstances.

We need both in our lives to be successful and happy. Both need to be tested and trained. The more we use it the easier it is to use under difficult circumstances.

The more we practice strength training especially when the weight is a little bit heavier the easier for the mind to know that difficult tasks aren’t as difficult as it seems. It’s important to be uncomfortable.

That goes for the same as learning any new skill. If you ever watch a professional, it doesn’t matter what profession but if you watch a professional play a guitar, study, weld, frame, code, etc it can be very over whelming. Don’t give up. Learn the basics and get good at it. You can learn much more difficult things within that skill set. The difficult won’t be as difficult. Hot cross buns is a lot easier to play than Stairway to Heaven.

Start with small physical and than add some mental strength training the next day.

Start with a walk around the block fast as possible. Record the time. To increase mental strength try and beat your time from the day before by 2 min. When you get close to that original time use positive words in your head that will encourage you to push harder. Start with small wins and work your way up with bigger wins.

The quest for happiness requires strength in all aspects.

You got this.

Goal setting 2024. Make goals and achieve them.

New Years resolutions have turned into a joke because people aren’t taking resolutions seriously. Setting yourself up to win starts mentally, do you actually want these goals you are trying to achieve. Or are you saying this statement for the sake of saying something.

The problem with not taking statements seriously even though you said you wanted it, psychologically you are losing and that feeling is in you now. You will laugh it off but that feeling of losing is in you.

Positive mindset plays a long way with winning.

That is the goal.

Make as many goals as you want. At the beginning of your list start easy. Make them very achievable so you get used to winning. Further into your list start making your goals a little more difficult. So you will have to work harder but the feeling of winning is still in you when you want to achieve that goal.

You get the process.

My only request for your goals is to get healthier. If you don’t know where to start let me suggest with a 10 min walk everyday. Start from there. Do that for 5 days of the 7 days

Try by adding 1 multi vitamin pill in your day.

Let’s start from there. You got this. Make 2024 yours.

In my past life I had the power to hurt people with my hands now in my second phase of life I have the power to help people with my hands.

I take my profession seriously because broken people ask me for help and I have to come up with a game plan how to help.

People present me a problem, I have to assess what the problem is, how does this problem effect the rest of the body and how can I help it. Sometimes I have to use massage techniques, sometimes I have to use stretching techniques, sometimes we have to do strengthening exercises. Most of the time we have to do all.

The fun part for me is the problem solving aspect on how to help. How can I use my past injuries, how can I use my education, how can I use fitness to help people.

In my experience, other than working to recover from a acute injury, most people I see in the gym can strengthen their posture, stretch their opposite side and do core work. We can learn what to do with our shoulder blades and our hips and address where the weight in our ankles are.

In our strength and conditioning classes we address a lot of the generally weaknesses and more. We learn how to use our hips and legs to squat and hinge. We will learn how to use our upper back and shoulder blades to pack and we will learn how to use our core for bracing and learn how to do diaphragmatic breathing.

Can’t make class time? I have personal training slots open through out the day. Let’s find a time that works for you.

Let’s GO!

Moving weights and gaining muscle mass is a very common goal for people starting or maintaining their healthy lifestyle. As we age gaining muscle mass is just as important because we lose muscle mass as we age. Just understand what muscle mass are we gaining.

I have a term for moving weights called ‘blasting’. Blasting is where people want to move weight at any cost not think about technique or how the weight will be moved but it will get moved. When we are younger we can get away with that. The body will adapt to what you want to do. As we age and try to move heavier weight the joints of our body has paid a price. You will have size and muscle mass but is that muscle mass useful to you?

Are you able to walk up and downstairs without pain? Are you able to do athletic movements? How is your balance? Does your joints hurt?

I will use myself as a example. I use heavy squats and deadlifts to improve my sprinting and jumping. When I do shoulder presses and bench pressing it is to improve my punching speed and power.

I don’t want to move a weight where it compromises athletic abilities and skills. I don’t want to make my quads and hamstrings big where it actually slows me down.

Train and add muscle that has strength that will benefit your athletic abilities and enhance your life.

Make goals and work towards them. Talk to a professional that can help guide you where you want to go.

Summer 2023 is coming to a end.

Welcome fall. New season. New school year. New opportunities. New focus.

Let’s get to next summer!

It’s safe to say that summer is my favourite season.

I love hiking (good thing we do this all year long). Going to the lake. Being in the sun. Kayaking. Forest service roads. Canoeing. Being shirtless. Generally adventurering.

Based on my age (43) I have 43 summers left. The way I feel in my body I would say I’m half way done life. If I make it to 90, that’s cool. If I cap out at 70, that’s cool as well. But who knows. Life is unpredictable. A lot of things we cannot control in our life but there are a lot of things that we can control.

Let’s just say I do get another 43 years out of my heart. How many years of those 43 are going to be active. I’m going to say 30. That’s takes me to 73.

The activities I enjoy doing requires a plan, some strength and discipline.

The plan to live out as many active years in your life will require fitness, mobility work, cardio, stretching and proper nutrition.

To get the most out of you make a game plan for you health and stick with it. Living in pain isn’t fun but living is pretty awesome.

See you next summer, summer 💚.
