From Classroom to Commercialization!

Valente Productions has partnered with George Brown Polytechnic to kick-off a new serious games initiative focused on peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, civilian protection, and community rebuilding.

Working title:

Keeping The Peace
Restore Stability. Rebuild Communities.

Inspired by real-world peacekeeping and public safety concepts from United Nations, United Nations Police (UNPOL) and NATO subject matter, the project aims to develop a series of serious games that make complex global challenges more accessible through interactive learning and public edutainment.

Together with George Brown Polytechnic, we've designed a scalable workflow that integrates "bolt-on" academic production teams aligned with semester cycles, research initiatives, industry partnerships, and funding opportunities. Our first team includes 22 student contributors across multiple disciplines.

This project represents something I've been pursuing since returning to school: creating meaningful digital experiences that bring together technology, education, creativity, people, and communities.

Five years ago, I left the beach.

Tomorrow, I'll cross the stage at Humber Polytechnic as a graduate of Game Programming.

What happened between those two moments changed my life.

When the world changed during the pandemic, I made the decision to return to school and reinvent myself through technology, creativity, and learning. That decision led me to Humber Polytechnic, George Brown Polytechnic, and eventually Toronto Metropolitan University, where I am now completing my Master of Digital Media.

What many people don't know is that I completed both undergraduate and postgraduate studies simultaneously, enrolling full-time at both Humber and George Brown. With the support of faculty, classmates, mentors, and remote learning, I completed more than four years of post-secondary education in less than three years.

While I was only able to officially graduate from one institution, both played an equally important role in shaping my journey and supporting the pathway that brought me here today.

Before technology, there was hospitality.

Years spent working in restaurants, bars, live events, sports venues, and music venues taught me lessons no classroom could. I learned communication, leadership, resilience, teamwork, and what it means to create meaningful experiences for people.

Those lessons remain at the foundation of everything I build and create today, reminding me that technology is ultimately about people.

Along the way, classroom assignments evolved into real-world opportunities.

Valente Productions began as a portfolio assignment. Today, it represents the bridge between where I came from and where I'm going https://valenteproductions.ca/portfolio/.

I have been fortunate to contribute to projects that pushed far beyond the classroom.

Most importantly, none of this happened alone.

To my family, mentors, faculty, classmates, clients, collaborators, employers, community partners, and friends, thank you for believing in me, challenging me, supporting me, and creating opportunities for growth along the way.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to participate in the global release of the first, of several Peacekeeping Simulations & Games, titled "Investigating Atrocity: Military Observer in Carana," developed by Dr. Walter Dorn, professor of Defence Studies at the Canadian Forces College & Royal Military College of Canada/Collรจge militaire royal du Canada.

We had the honour of releasing and showcasing the simulation in Vicenza, Italy, at CoESPU - Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units, host of the 29th Annual meeting of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC), with several dozen International training centres in attendance.

Development of additional peacekeeping simulations and games are underway, enhancing education, by way of interactive "EDUTAINMENT". The simulation is available for , and your FEEDBACK would be greatly appreciated.

With gratitude and love, thank you to EVERYONE who has been part of this journeyโฃ๏ธ
