That’s a wrap! Week two took us further south to find the shoals and sharks! Lots of shoals, not so many sharks. The Daedalus lighthouse was a fun and popular dive site. They grow big eels there! Kevin and I reached dive milestones on this trip. Kevin logged his 900th dive and I’m pretty happy to have hit 1,500. I think I like this whole scuba thing! 🤣 🤿 🦈 🐠 🐬 🛥️

Reporting from the Red Sea: Our first week sailing near Hurghada was a bit rough. High winds and big currents made it hard to dive, especially the deep wrecks. But we did manage to explore over a dozen or more wrecks dating from the mid 19th century and up to 1991.

The star of the show was the Thistlegorm. Roughly 400 ft in length, it was sunk by the Germans during the Second World War. It lies in a 100 ft of water in a mostly upright location.

To do the wreck justice we dove on it four times, including a night dive! It was a supply ship and most of what it was carrying is a still in place. Including trucks, motorcycles, runner boats, munitions and even two locomotives that were thrown clear when it sank.

Of course fish now inhabit the ship including scorpion fish, lion fish, snapper and schools of small cleaner fish.

Now can head to Marsa Alam for our next adventure: “sharks and shoals”. Happy Thanksgiving!
