Race Recap at Peterborough Speedways Autumn Colours Classic 🍂🍁
Heat 1 we were slotted to start 4th, but some malfunctions with the car infront of me coming to the green I moved myself up to 2nd. From there nothing went good, well except one thing 😉A caution came out before we even got a lap and they put me as the leader….. yah still don’t know how that works….. but anyways another caution, and another caution…. And yup! You guessed it another caution!!!! So many we actually timed out and only ran 2 laps….. picked up the win for our 4th consecutive year of getting a heat win at ACC.
After Friday night I started feeling off…. Feverish, sore throat and loss of strength…. Every year I get sick!!!! Kaley made the trip to town and got I think every cold medication they had! Saturdays heat race and possible B main was gunna be a chore! And man was it ever!
Heat 2 we lined up 6th and the 2 cars infront of me weren’t the strongest running in my heat so I knew I was in trouble. We dropped to dead last by turn 2. From there I picked my way cruising around the bottom (I know weird!) and finished 4th, but tech got us to 3rd. Locking us into the Main event!
Feature race we started 3rd. After an rain delay and track drying it kinda through our set up for a loop and we built pressure in the tires so we were allowed to come back down and adjust that, however the tires themselves still had heat… so it was a different feeling from the drop of the green flag. I had a game plan, and it actually worked out the whole race. We stayed patient and just rode around and made some epic maneuvers in lap traffic. Caught the leaders with a handful of laps remaining and made contact with 2nd place. Had to check up so I didn’t completely dump him, and from there just maintained our pace and finished 3rd tying our personal best, and keeping our Colours streak alive finishing 5 consecutive years in the top 5 and never finishing worst than 7th in my career.
We just didn’t have the car to contend for a win this year, and honestly the driver wasn’t in the best shape to race either but I toughed it out and did the best I could for how I was feeling. I was beat and the pictures show it in victory lane.
Thanks to everyone involved in this event, all the staff and sponsors, crew and fans that make the trip up to watch. Was a long weekend and even my grandma stuck around and waited out the rain to watch! Thanks as always to the sponsors for making this dream season come true. We got 1 more race to go, might not be behind the wheel but we haven’t confirmed if it’s a for sure deal, so guess you’ll have to wait and see!
