For as long as humans have been able to craft a shallow, narrow vessel and a paddle, we’ve been out on the water. There’s something both satisfying and magical about crossing a lake or river under your own power, quietly maneuvering to hidden places where bigger boats just can’t go. In our first-ever Paddling Issue, we celebrate the rich history and the everyday joy of paddling right here in Northwestern Ontario, whether it’s canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, or dragon boat racing. Paddles up!
