Martene makes Team Canada and is headed to Masters Pan Ams in Puerto Rico!

I wanted to put the spotlight on today as she prepares for a big step in here weightlifting journey.

About a year ago, Martene reached out with the desire of improving her skills in Olympic weightlifting and eventually testing herself in competition. We didn’t know it at the time, but these aspirations would continue to grow with her confidence and abilities and lead her to the international stage about 12 months later - pretty cool if you ask me.

This is all a testament to a willingness to learn, relearn, and show up every day to improve. Martene sets a great example in attitude and approach and her results speak for themselves!

Quick exercise spotlight for today

Here I’m performing a sn**ch-grip sled pull with an axle bar. This is a cool exercise that pairs the mid and upper back benefits of a sn**ch grip deadlift with the usual work you’d expect of a sled pull. The axle is a cool bonus to really challenge your grip strength too.

This is one where you’ll want to load up the weight!
I did 4-5 laps of 40m
Superset with some back extensions or sn**ch deadlifts for some serious back training

How much can you sled pull? Let me know in the comments!

Have to give a shoutout to our girl on her big 81kg sn**ch PR on !

While there’s no questioning her willingness to show up every day and put in the work, Hannah certainly deserves equal credit for doing so with an open mind and eagerness to chase weakness. I guess what I really mean is, after rolling her eyes, she still agrees to try whichever crazy idea I’ve cooked up on that occasion.

Chasing greatness in anything is as much about learning as it is training. This goes for coaches and athletes - never be afraid to think outside the box and challenge convention! You might just find what you’ve been chasing.
