Studio One Dance

After 21 years of teaching plies, Lisa has earned her retirement! She and her husband Dave are excited to see the space they've spent the last decades building with love continue to be used to bring the joy of dance to the next generation.

Art in Motion Dance School will be operating out of Studio One's location moving forward.

Lisa and many of her instructors will continue sharing their love of dance and be working with Art in Motion in the future.

Treasuring the Journey

Twenty one years ago I took a leap of faith and opened the doors of Studio One Dance. It has been an amazing journey. The studio has been my second home. Together as a dance family, we have shared love, laughter and tears and I am grateful for all the memories that I will cherish forever!

Although the decision to retire and formally close the doors of Studio One Dance has been bittersweet, I am excited to announce that Rachel Chernosky from Art in Motion will be relocating her studio to 38 Court St. S. As a former student of mine, Rachel was an amazing dancer and has gone on to prove herself in the dance community. I am beyond proud of her and I am certain that she will continue to make a difference in the lives of so many dancers in the years to come.

So I humbly take off my director’s cap and say “thank you” to all the wonderful people that I have had the privilege of sharing my journey with. I hope to continue sharing my passion for dance as I am not quite ready to retire my teaching shoes yet. I leave you with this…“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” – Dr. Seuss

We are very excited to announce that we will be holding a workshop on June 11th and 12th and bringing in the best faculty! There will be classes from Contemporary and Improv to Jumps/Turns and Hip Hop!

Potential camps for dancers ages 4-18, depending on interest within age brackets. If your dancer is likely to attend this summer, fill in our survey! Be sure to use the additional comments to let us know of anything specific you want to see happen (jumps and turns, flexibility training, advanced tap, improv sessions, choreography building, early drop off/late pick-up, custom camp swag, whatever!)

Congratulations to all of our dancers who graced the stage, and a special round of applause to those who made it to "The Pit", and our Senior Dancers who took first overall for their ballet!!

What a great way to wrap up our first competitive season since 2019!! It feels so good to have this back in our lives and to see our dancers grow and thrive on the stage.

The last day of
Dance Comp, coming up! There have been so many triumphs on that stage😍. We are so proud of our dancers and teachers for their dedication! It is certainly on display this weekend!

A special congratulations to our ballet soloists who qualified as contenders for the Junior and Senior Rotary Cup!
Devyn participated for the Junior Cup. Leyah and Sienna both made it to contention for the Senior Cup, with Leyah taking it home!

Absolutely remarkable showing from our Dancers. We can't wait to see what you have left for us for the last day of competition!

Competition season is here! These lovely Senior dancers represented Studio One at Youth America Grand Prix in our first ever excursion to this worldwide competition. Congratulations to you both!

Closer to home, our competitive teams are gearing up for Dance Canada Competition which starts tomorrow!

It's been two years since our dancers have had a chance to perform under the lights of a stage, and we are so happy they will finally have their time to shine! Best of luck to all of our dancers, we are so proud of you for your dedication and perseverance!
