A few updates on tryouts

1. The time for the U13AA tryout on September 23rd is 6:15pm not 5pm.

2. U18 A tryouts will begin later then scheduled. We will have this updated once ice times are secured for it. This is due to Rebels and Regals tryouts.

3. The registration form will be closed on Monday at 5pm. If you have not yet registered please do so prior to this. We will not be taking any walk ins or players not registered this year. If your child is trying out for Regals, Rebels or any other team at the U15 and U18 levels but do want to have the option for our Western Warriors teams please register them online (do not pay) until their other tryouts are finalized.

Registration for the 2026–2027 hockey season is officially open!

We have worked hard over the years to keep our registration fees as low as possible, but unfortunately, with the rising costs of running our hockey program, we could not avoid an increase this season. We know families are feeling increased costs in many areas, and keeping hockey affordable remains very important to us.

Our registration fees will be reviewed each year based on how our association finishes financially, and when we are in a position to lower costs for our families, we absolutely will. Our goal is to keep as much money as possible in the pockets of our hockey families while continuing to provide a great program for our players.

2026–2027 REGISTRATION FEES

🔹 U7 – $495
🔹 U9 to U18 – $720
🔹 3 Player Family Rate – $2,060
🔹 4 Player Family Rate – $2,730
🥅 Goalie Fee – $200

🎟️ All registration fees listed above include the $70 Christmas Draw fundraiser fee per player.

📅 REGISTRATION & PAYMENT DEADLINES

All players must be registered by September 20, 2026. Registrations received after September 20 will be subject to a $100 late registration fee.

Please ensure registration fees are paid in full by November 30, 2026.

We also ask families to please stay on top of their payments. If we have to continue contacting you after the payment deadline to collect an outstanding balance, an additional late fee will apply. We would really like to avoid having to charge these fees, so please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns about payment.

💳 PAYMENT OPTIONS

Payment can be made by:

• E-transfer to [email protected] — please include the player’s name in the message.
• Cash or cheque at our in-person registration — date to be announced.

💙 APPLYING FOR KIDSPORT OR JUMPSTART?

If you plan to apply for KidSport, Jumpstart or another funding program, please make sure you indicate this on your registration form.

We strongly encourage families to register and begin their funding applications as soon as possible. Applying early will give you time to complete the process and help ensure you don’t miss any important funding deadlines.

Western Warriors AAA/AA/A Tryout Registration
2026–2027 Season

The Western Warriors are excited to announce registration for the 2026–2027 AAA/AA/A tryouts!

As we continue to grow our program, we are committed to improving our tryout process each season to ensure it is fair, consistent, and focused on player development. This year we have made several enhancements to our evaluation process and look forward to seeing all athletes compete for a position within the Western Warriors program.

Registration Fee

Tryout Registration: $100 per player

Tryout Format

The tryout process will consist of a total of five on-ice sessions(There will be cuts following the 3rd and possibly 4th ice session) :

Ice Time #1 – Skating Evaluation
Ice Time #2 – Puck Skills & Individual Skill Evaluation
Ice Time #3 – Controlled Scrimmage/Game Situations
Ice Time #4 – Scrimmage
Ice Time #5 – Scrimmage

Following the third ice session, the initial player selections and reductions will be made.

U11 & U13 Tryout Process

For the first three ice sessions, all U11 and U13 players registered for AAA and AA tryouts will participate together.

This means that players wishing to try out for AA only are still required to attend the first three evaluation sessions alongside the AAA candidates.

After the third ice session:

Players remaining in contention for U13AAA/U11AA teams will continue together for the final two scrimmage sessions.
Remaining players in contention for the AA/A teams will be contacted to participate in the evaluation process for AA/A team selection at their respective age divisions.

This structure allows every player to receive the same skill evaluations while providing additional game situations to help determine final team placements.

U9 AA, U15 AA & U18A Tryouts

For the U9 AA, U15 AA, and U18A divisions, all registered players will participate in the first three scheduled tryout sessions.

Following the third ice time, the number of participants will be reduced based on the evaluations completed during those sessions. The remaining players will continue through the final two scrimmage sessions as coaches complete their team selections.

Enhanced Evaluation Process

To further improve the consistency and accuracy of player evaluations, the Western Warriors will be utilizing a new digital evaluation platform this season. This system will provide evaluators with a more structured approach to recording observations and ranking players throughout the tryout process.

Our objective is to ensure every player is evaluated fairly using consistent criteria throughout all five sessions.

Coaching Applications

Coaches for the 2026–2027 season will be announced following the third tryout session.

If you are interested in coaching a Western Warriors team this season, we encourage you to submit a coaching application before the tryout process begins.

🥅 Goalie Gear Inventory 🥅

We’re working on updating our goalie equipment inventory and would appreciate everyone’s help!

If your goalie currently has any association-owned goalie gear, please send us a message letting us know:

- What equipment you have
- The size of each item

If you still have any association gear that isn’t being used or won’t be needed this season, please arrange to return it as soon as possible.

We’d like to have an accurate inventory completed for our upcoming meeting so we know what equipment we have available and what may be needed.

Please share this with any goalie parents you know so we can make sure we reach everyone!
