Official Statement from the NOHA:
The Northern Ontario Hockey Association wishes to address and dispel recent rumours. The Timmins Rock will continue to oversee both the U18AAA and U15AAA programs. These programs will remain under Rock management and will not be returned to the local associations this fall.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
To the Players, Families, and Hockey Community of the Timmins Region,
The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) is writing to provide clarity and certainty regarding AAA hockey programming in the City of Timmins for the 2026–27 season.
The NOHA Board of Directors has formally confirmed that the Porcupine Minor Hockey Association, the Timmins Minor Hockey Association, and the Timmins Rock will jointly oversee the operation of the U15 AAA and U18 AAA programs for the full 2026–27 season. Both programs will continue to compete under the name Timmins Jr. Rock.
This decision was made with one priority in mind: ensuring that the players and families of the Timmins region have a clear and stable pathway to high-performance hockey. We recognize that uncertainty is not fair to players who are working hard and planning their futures in the game, and we want there to be no doubt about what next season looks like.
The three partner organizations have done outstanding work in standing up these programs on short notice and have demonstrated a genuine commitment to the players in this region. We are confident that the Timmins Jr. Rock will provide a strong and competitive environment for U15 and U18 AAA athletes in the 2026–27 season.
Players and families are encouraged to monitor the websites of the Porcupine MHA, Timmins MHA, and the Timmins Rock for updates on program information as they become available.
Thank you for your continued support of hockey in Northeastern Ontario.
