It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that Synergy Wado Kai will no longer be operating as of today, and that we will be hanging up our Gi’s for the foreseeable future.
This decision didn’t come easily since Sensei Moe and Sensei Gaetan have been practicing Karate for nearly 20 years and running Synergy Wado Kai for about 8 of those years; before COVID began, it would have been 10 years this year.
Although the reasons for closing the doors and ending our training are many, the simple answer is that we are ready for a change.
It has been a tremendous pleasure being your teacher over the years and have so many fond memories that we’ll cherish forever.
We wish everyone all the best, don’t be a stranger and say hello if you see us walking by or online in social media.
In Peace & Harmony,
Sensei Maurice Allard

Synergy Wado-Kai Karate Club
This Karate club is now closed - May 2022
Anyone looking to practice the art of Karate should get in touch with Timmins Wado Kai Karate Club or Porcupine Wado Kai Karate Club (They each have pages if you search these names)
As you are probably all aware, the re-open date of January 24 was pushed back.
The new date is now April 11th.
Since this date is only about 1.5 to 2 months away from when we normally finish for the season, we won't be opening up at least until September 2022. Naturally, this is as long as no new restrictions take effect by then.
COVID19 Update - Tentative re-open date is January 24, 2022.
The school board we usually deal with has announced that they have a tentative date of January 24, 2022 to open up to the community again.
2019-2020 students have been emailed with additional information.
At this time we are still waiting for the official "COVID-19 School Facility Use Guidelines" from the school board, which they say will be sent to us in the new year.
If anyone has questions, please feel free to email us at: [email protected] or send us a message through Facebook Messenger.
Just a follow-up from my last post. The school boards still haven't opened up the use of schools to the community. Last note I saw was to "check back in January 2022".
Hi all,
Like last year, we are keeping a close eye on the availability of school facilities for community use. At this time, the school boards are still unable to open things up to the community.
Hopefully, as we move through provincial stages and guidelines to open things back up, we'll see some positive news that allows us to resume classes.
Every school board's primary obligation is to the safety of their students. This means there's still a chance (like last year) that if schools open up to our kids for day to day learning; the community may not be allowed to use school facilities.
Community use of schools was (is) a fantastic resource and we've been lucky to have access to these locations for so many years.
Losing this resource will likely hurt many organizations as the number of venues to operate things like Martial Arts, Fitness programs, birthday parties, etc... will greatly diminish.
I hope the schools will be able to find a way to continue offering this service, even if it means stricter health/sanitary policies in light of what we've all had to endure since the spring of 2020.
As we get more information, we'll be sure to post updates for everyone.
In case we can't go back to using school gyms, if anyone has other venue options they'd like to share, don't hesitate to let us know :)
Keep in mind that we generally follow the same yearly schedule as schools do (September to May/June) and so many of the months for class will occur during winter; so heating is important.
The location must also have washrooms; and if possible, a good spot to use as a change room (if there's no actual change room).
We've used the washroom as a change room in the past, if the washroom had enough space to do so.
Carpeted flooring is not desirable (rug burns aren't fun); but we've done that before too (those really low profile, hard office-type carpets).
It’s been some time since our last post. We hope everyone is staying safe but also staying active. What have you been up to this past summer from a fitness perspective?
We miss all our students and hope you can share some good news stories :)
With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, the school board has not yet lifted the closure of schools to community members.
At this time we have no dates on resuming Karate classes as we look into other possible venues.

Hi all,
I haven't posted in a while, and today I wanted to give an update.
It's unlikely that we'll be returning to class this month or next. We likely won't be returning until September.
Sensei Moe and I talked a little about doing video classes possibly or even record ourselves with small simple lessons just to keep things fresh in everyone's minds.
But, as someone who's been experiencing the home schooling situation, I didn't want to put another thing on everyone's shoulders to do.
If we do make these videos, they won't be mandatory to watch. They will simply be something available to students to look at if they want to keep themselves sharp.
Don't forget we also have some Kata videos on our website; available to registered site members only.

For those that paid for the month we didn't get to have class, I will be issuing reimbursements; or we can carry the payment into September. I'll leave it up to you. I'll email instructions soon.
As far as grading is concerned, we haven't yet come to any decisions, I'll post more on that in the coming week.
