Our Story
Ranger's Martial Arts was initially started by Kyoshi Guy Ranger in 1972. Kyoshi was a student of Sensei Robert Dalgleish who had studied directly with Gogen Yamaguchi (the master instructor of Goju Karate).
Currently, Kyoshi Ranger is the Chief Instructor of Ranger's Martial Arts Studio, with Shihan Lola Turner as the Head Instructor for both the children's and junior advanced classes.
Shihan Lola is assisted by Renshi Bruce Turner who is the Head Instructor for the adult classes.
Children's and adult classes involve learning the basic stances, strikes, kicks and blocks. Using these techniques in katas. Children also learn Japanese terminology, kumite and self defence.
Advancement is achieved through learning and completing katas and terminology at each rank. We use a traditional belt ranking system using the following colours: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown & black.
