Diagnoses have climbed by 175 percent in just the last decade—with the greatest increases in girls and women. Here’s how our understanding of autism is changing.

My story didn’t start with my pain, it started a long time before.

We all hear about bodies struggling after years of sport or years of not moving much at all, but that wasn’t me. I was active with 3 young boys to bring up, I loved the outdoors and walking and rarely missed my gym sessions.

I felt like I was obeying all the ‘rules’ I’d been told about how to move to stay healthy.

But that was because no-one was talking about the importance of how we choose to move the rest of the time .

After years of pain, it wasn’t just my body I’d lost confidence in, I was fearful of my future.

I know how fortunate I am to no longer be in pain and I celebrate the simple ways I can move everyday.

I know the power of those movements in the long run, in a way I never understood before.

Finding natural movement helped me bring together the tools I now use to feel good now and to help me age well.

I learned how easily we can move with much greater variety and feed the body what it needs throughout the day, when we know how.

I use movement as a tool to be more productive, to distract my mind when I need it, to make myself smile and to have fun.

I love seeing the progress of the people I work so they can do the same.

When I realised that moving well isn’t about grand achievements, I moved forward.

Instead, it’s about being feeling assured in your own capability, whatever level you choose that to be, and knowing that the inputs you give your body daily are going to serve you for a lifetime.

Huge thanks to the talented @emmataylorfilms who ‘got’ my message from the start
