All kidding aside… my bobbin winder for damaged during the move to our new home and it forced me to use my tiny sewing machine and quilt by hand! 🪡🧵It’s also my first time hand stitching my binding! 🙌

2023 was quite the year!!! We put our house for sale… and Howie (our golden doodle grandchild 🤣) came into our lives! Let’s just say, this quilt sat on my design wall much longer than it should have! It decorated my sewing room during all those open houses and showings! But, now our house is sold and this quilt has become a reminder of all we have overcome, and all that we have gained! Happy New Year to all of you! 🥳

☀️Goldie Quilt - I didn’t intentionally choose yellow for this quilt, but somehow it seems to be the predominant colour 🤣 I bought the First Light fat quarter bundle, thinking I would use more of the greys… but it went so well with the yellow heirloom backing fabric I already had, so this is the end result! I think it suits the name 😍
Fun Fact: My middle name, Zlatka, means Goldie 💛💛💛

Last night we had a snow storm mixed with lightening and thunder! I can honestly say, that was a first! In the morning, woke up to a beautiful, sunny, and picturesque winter day! ❄️
What a wonderful backdrop for my finished , finished ahead of the . 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just couldn’t stop, because it’s that fun! 🎉

I love how each block evolved once all the different fabrics were combined, to create a wonderful, scrappy quilt! ☺️

Here’s my fabric pull using fabrics from called First Light. ☀️ I’ll be using the black fabric for the background so these colours will really pop! I’m excited to see this quilt come together! 😍

I’ve been waiting for a sunny day to take pictures of this quilt, but the days here in Toronto have been rainy, gloomy and cold! Today is as good as it will get! ❄️🥶
