I love this 💩

Sporting Life 10k: 39:57

Cut it way too close lol. Pretty much how I expected to feel 2 weeks post marathon.

6 Days recovery/prep then off to Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Big shoutout to the entire team:

crushing their first races

sadly getting out kicked by his son London, but know it was a great experience for the both of them.

on a great pre race before Brooklyn half this Saturday

Welcome back to running

and Nick for amazing finishes!

Another marathon in the books.

7 if we count Ironmans

Mississauga Marathon: 3:27.37

Wasn't the day that I hope for or wanted, but more experience nonetheless. Went into the race with low expectations. Lots of ups and downs throughout, warmer day than I'm used to, and a pretty technical course. Feet were blistered, slowed down big time around 30k and didn't feel like digging myself a whole.

This was a shorter prep than normal and wasn't completely dialled throughout the prep to say the least. This distance really exposes your preparation. There no way to hide your fitness. You're either ready or you're not.

Shoutout to my friends for coming to support/cheer and and on their pb's!

This race left me hungry for more. It's back to the drawing board before I try again in October.

Now looking to sporting life 10k next weekend and Brooklyn half marathon shortly afterwards where I know I'll be able to put up some good efforts all around.

The Hybrid Bulk...

I haven’t consistently weighed myself this year. Almost 2 weeks post marathon and I’m weighing in at 185.8lbs.

Picture 1: Taken September 2022 most definitely under 170lbs
Picture 2 Right: November 11th 2022 171.8lbs
Picture 2 Left: May 13th 2023 around 185.8lbs

October 16 2022 Toronto Waterfront Marathon 3:19 (Guessing 170lbs)
May 7th 2023 Toronto Marathon 3:18 (around 180-185lbs)

I never INTENTIONALLY tried to cut weight for a race. But I did in fact always believe that lighter is faster and there is still some truth in that. Although my weight drop was unintentional I did believe it was going to make me faster.

Weight gain is just a by product of increased muscle mass. From my lowest weight to current weight I've been able to put on about 20lbs. If you asked me a year ago if I could be at this weight and run faster, I wouldn't believe it.

Small changes week to week multiply and compound over a period of time. It's crazy to see the progress.

Can you build muscle and train for a marathon and ironman? Seems likely

Will increasing muscle/strength and bodyweight negatively impact running? In my case no. If anything it has made me more resilient to injury, able to handle more volume and overall has made me a better runner.

Although not a significant difference between PB's, this was the first race of year and I haven’t amassed enough data points to made definitive conclusions.

Only time will tell.... but I'm getting a sub 3:10 marathon. You can count on that.

A new chapter in the story.

I'm excited to be apart of the BEST gym downtown and call my new home.

Same offerings, but in a new location. Private 1 on 1's, semi private group training and something new is that I'll be leading a FREE social run club that will meet weekly starting the week after Easter (more to come).

Over the next month, my time will be coming to an end. I'm forever grateful to for the opportunity, knowledge, and experience he's given me.

This is the cliché "when one chapter closes another opens".

Come be apart of my new chapter.
