Not the race day anyone was hoping for at Sauble Speedway.😩🏁

Coming into the day, our series was originally scheduled to be the first feature of the day. However, the schedule was later rearranged, moving us to the third feature, behind two series with the longest races. It was certainly frustrating to see the change and this change ultimately came back to bite us at the end of the night...

Unfortunately, just before the features were set to begin, a serious crash occurred during the final heat race of another series. A driver was transported to hospital, and all racing was brought to a stop while the incident was investigated. The OPP eventually cleared the track for racing to resume, but by that point, the evening was getting late. Our series collectively agreed that with the time left, and now being the third feature in the line up, there simply wasn't enough time left to run our race. So our feature was ultimately called.

It's disappointing and frustrating to leave Sauble Speedway once again without getting to complete our race day.

But some things are much bigger than racing.
Our thoughts are with the driver who was involved in the crash. We’re wishing him all the very best and hoping for a strong and speedy recovery.

This race week, with Oshawa Animal Services, we are highlighting Ben!

Ben is a 2-year-old Cane Corso mix. Ben is a super sweet boy who loves everyone he meets! He is a big boy that doesn’t quite know his size, because of this we recommend no small children. Ben can be selective with other dogs and likes to choose his friends wisely. However, when it comes to people, he loves them all!

Ben is currently working on his leash skills when he goes for walks with volunteers and he is making great progress! We hope this sweet gentle giant will find his forever home soon!

I had a really special first day of school last week all thanks to Mr. McFadden of GrassRoots Racing . A bit of background first...Mr. McFadden and I have been fellow competitors on track for the past few years. Last year he also became my grade 11 autoshop teacher. Last week, I started grade 12 autoshop with him. Yep It's a bit different having a fellow competitor as your teacher but if anyone knows Mr. McFadden he's a cool and crazy guy so it all works out well and we enjoy a lot of racing jokes along the way.

But this past week, I walked into my first day of grade 12 where the school morning announcements congratulated me on my first legends win!! I was shocked to hear this and had no idea why it would be on the announcements. The more I thought about it, the more I realized who likely did it. I spent my first day having students and teachers congratulate me which was really special.

Thank you Mr. McFadden for giving me such a memorable last-first day of high school. This was really kind of you. I'm looking forward to autoshop this year and I'll try not to be late😜
