As gay men, we sometimes forget that our lifestyle determines our fitness ambitions, but in a compounded way:
โ€ข Working 40โ€“60 hours
โ€ข Managing stress
โ€ข Traveling for work or vacation
โ€ข Showing up socially
โ€ข Carrying responsibilities

This is why different ambitions require different structures.

A physique-focused season demands precision of resources, while a longevity-focused season offers sustainability โ€” but may not be suitable for those with an ambitious goal.

One is not better than the other โ€” they simply provide a solution for different people with different needs.

And as someone whoโ€™s been through both โ€” fulfillment is possible when itโ€™s coming from a place of learning & growth, as well as personal agency.

However if you ever feel stuck, donโ€™t call it failure.

Call it misalignment, and pivot accordingly.

Plenty of balls went flying, good food on the table โ€” but most importantly, ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ and connection.

As Iโ€™ve gotten older, the meaning of family has expanded: โ€ฆFrom blood โ€” to ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ž๐ง. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

Iโ€™m really grateful for what weโ€™re building together โ€” beyond workouts and meal plans. โค๏ธ

One of the most valuable things we can invest inโฃ our overall ๐ฐ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ-๐›๐ž๐ข๐ง๐  is finding ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ we ๐ž๐ง๐ฃ๐จ๐ฒ.

For someone like myself who struggled with ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž growing up, showing up to the things I enjoyed & can commit to helped rebuild my sense of ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฅ๐Ÿ-๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ that I was missing.

So when I actually showed up to:
โœ… sticking to a gym goal
โœ… learning how to eat better
โœ… actually doing ANY cardio
โœ… finally prioritizing sleep
โœ… make healthier decisions

โ€ฆ๐ก๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ž ๐œ๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ made me feel a little more accomplished, and to ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ in my own ๐œ๐š๐ฉ๐š๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ more.

And whenever I prioritized having a goal for my ๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ก and ๐ก๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ,โฃ I realized my ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž grows as well โ€” something which draws in the right energy and people who ๐š๐๐ to our lives, ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ฏ it.โฃ

This was when I realized I saw Fitness differently; it was no longer just health or physical activity, but an activity that taught me how to rebuild ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐š๐ ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ฒ from the inside-out and more.
