As gay men, we sometimes forget that our lifestyle determines our fitness ambitions, but in a compounded way:
โข Working 40โ60 hours
โข Managing stress
โข Traveling for work or vacation
โข Showing up socially
โข Carrying responsibilities
This is why different ambitions require different structures.
A physique-focused season demands precision of resources, while a longevity-focused season offers sustainability โ but may not be suitable for those with an ambitious goal.
One is not better than the other โ they simply provide a solution for different people with different needs.
And as someone whoโs been through both โ fulfillment is possible when itโs coming from a place of learning & growth, as well as personal agency.
However if you ever feel stuck, donโt call it failure.
Call it misalignment, and pivot accordingly.

Plenty of balls went flying, good food on the table โ but most importantly, ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ and connection.
As Iโve gotten older, the meaning of family has expanded: โฆFrom blood โ to ๐๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐๐ง. ๐ณ๏ธโ๐
Iโm really grateful for what weโre building together โ beyond workouts and meal plans. โค๏ธ

One of the most valuable things we can invest inโฃ our overall ๐ฐ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ-๐๐๐ข๐ง๐ is finding ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ we ๐๐ง๐ฃ๐จ๐ฒ.

For someone like myself who struggled with ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ growing up, showing up to the things I enjoyed & can commit to helped rebuild my sense of ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ๐-๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ that I was missing.
So when I actually showed up to:

sticking to a gym goal
โ
learning how to eat better
โ
actually doing ANY cardio
โ
finally prioritizing sleep
โ
make healthier decisions
โฆ๐ก๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ made me feel a little more accomplished, and to ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ in my own ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ more.
And whenever I prioritized having a goal for my ๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ก and ๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฌ,โฃ I realized my ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ grows as well โ something which draws in the right energy and people who ๐๐๐ to our lives, ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ฅ๐ณ๐ข๐ช๐ฏ it.โฃ
This was when I realized I saw Fitness differently; it was no longer just health or physical activity, but an activity that taught me how to rebuild ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ from the inside-out and more.
