3U or 4U for doubles? Weight is only the first filter.

A 3U racquet can feel more solid and powerful, but it may demand more from your timing and recovery. A 4U racquet is often quicker to move in fast doubles. Balance point, shaft stiffness, your strength and technique can change the feel just as much.

Does the finishing tape on your badminton grip keep loosening or peeling?

Yonex’s instructions start with the adhesive end and use the supplied tape for the final seal. We use a simpler method learned from Coach Ellen Chen of the Xiamen team, China: start with the plain end, then save the adhesive end to secure the grip at the top.

No extra finishing tape—and one less edge to peel off.

Which way do you wrap your grip—finishing tape or self-seal?

Buying your first serious badminton racquet? Avoid these three common mistakes:

1. Copying a professional player
2. Choosing a racquet that is too stiff or heavy
3. Assuming higher string tension means more power

Comment with your level, singles or doubles, and what you want to improve.

Not sure which Yonex racquet fits your game?

Start with how you play—not the price tag.

• Want more power from the rear court? Start with an attacking, head-heavy setup.
• Prefer fast drives and defence? Look at speed-focused, head-light options.
• Want a balanced, controlled feel? An even-balance racquet may be the better starting point.

Tell us your level, doubles or singles, and what you want to improve. We’ll point you in the right direction.
