Kids need their activities and young Dancers NEED their Dance Studios. Now. These kids have, "been dealing with the double whammy of a pandemic and losing access to the thing they love - maybe even the thing that gets them through in normal times." (Globe and Mail cited below) And it's been going on for far too long.

Students across the Province are dancing in public school and high school using Dance Safe Guidelines. Meanwhile, those same students cannot attend class in their dance studios. It’s time to let our studios welcome children again! FordNation Lisa MacLeod Christine Elliott

Please share and support our children getting back to the activity they love !!!
We support small businesses and the ability of non-essential retail to open their doors. Children’s Dance Studios have strict safety protocols in place, with dancers masked and physically distanced. We have small cohorts, full contact tracing, and kids who need dance for their physical and mental well-being. Our businesses deserve the chance to survive as well. Dance Safe Ontario is celebrating the news that the Ontario Government is providing $25 million dollars in support through the Ontario Arts Council to support professional artists and arts organizations devastated by the pandemic. We need to support the artists of today, but we also need to support the artists of tomorrow.
The dancers at Ballet Jorgen Minister MacLeod spoke of began their career as a child in a local dance school. Professional dancers in Ontario can all trace their beginnings back to the dance studio classroom where they began their lessons.
We are not asking for direct financial support or funding. We are simply asking for the opportunity to open our classrooms safely for children to continue their journey in the arts. While few will become professionals, they all will become adults that appreciate the arts.
We all rely on the arts in our everyday lives. The arts help us emotionally, psychologically, and even help to shape our individual and collective personalities. And for dance this all begins in the classroom at the local dance studio.
We ask once again that Public Health units across the Province by providing guidance that children’s dance studios are not fitness or exercise classes. We need Public Health to agree that our dancers can be taught safely in our multi-use facilities, with cohorts of up to ten students in each room that is physically separated from all other rooms in the facility.Dance Safe Ontario FordNation Lisa MacLeod
