Stumbled upon these vintage WEIDER foot weights at an antique shop. It’s amazing how far we’ve come from primitive forms of fitness equipment like these, however the same universal principle always applies - apply weight to a movement and lift in a systematic, repetitive manner to achieve muscular and strength gains.

FIT KNOWLEDGE + INSIGHT [05.26.20]:

During the last two months of isolation, friends have asked me questions like, ā€œKurt, what’s better? Me buying a Peloton or buying a treadmill?ā€ Or, ā€œshould I buy a spin bike or a Bowflex?ā€

ā€TRX or Power Blocs?ā€

My answer is always the same:

ā€œThe right one is the one that you use consistently and doesn’t end up becoming a clothes rackā€.

When an attempt at a specific fitness discipline ultimately fails and leads to inactivity, people tend to blame it on the activity and not themselves and feel that once again ā€˜attempting something different’ is the answer.

I personally don’t care if you start to use old VHS Tae Bo tapes with Billy Blanks - if it’s the discipline that you ultimately hold your yourself accountable to and diligently stick with, then it’s the right one.

The problem hasn’t been the activity type - it’s been you.

Break the endless cycle of ā€˜on-again, off-again’ fitness and get on board for life - your future self will thank you for it.
