Material & Motion Workshop: A Recap
What happens when we step away from prescribed exercise and instead move with a raw, malleable, and often unpredictable material?
This past weekend, we gathered at the studio to explore tactile clay work. For millennia, humans have interacted with clay as a vehicle for ritual, connection to land, artistic expression, utility, and a medium for memory and language.
What we uncovered was a rich physical inquiry and dialogue that promoted adaptability, listening, expression, reflection and a whole lotta fun!
Moving with material illuminates the continuous feedback loop between the body and the world: we shape our environments and our environments sculpt and shape us, our perceptions, behaviours, choices and physiology.
Thanks to everyone who stepped onto the floor and got down and dirty!
