π§ Busting Kettlebell Myths
"a quick swipe through fitness culture"
Myth: Coaches need to "look" the part
Did you put on a few pounds? Are you feeling that you have gained weight? Life has been hard, maybe youβre taking a break but suddenly youβre not posting on social media as much... youβre only posting your face... maybe some memes or maybe infographics.
But then things changed in your life AND you lost a few pounds but NOW you post ALL THE TIME. Whether you like it or not your behaviour over time has perpetuated a belief that you were not worthy to be seen in your larger body and that weight loss is THE thing to be celebrated. These are the signs of internalized weight stigma and weight bias.
This is not first time my body has changed and wonβt be the last. I chose a long time ago not to erase myself, to show up. That means you would see my body, moving, coaching and that would be regardless of weight gain or weight loss.
You will see me and know that Iβm not embarrassed.
Coaches Corner was conceived out of the pure audacity that I could teach kettlebell skills to folks while also driving home humanity, compassion, empathy and transparency around the impact of systems of oppression like racism, fat phobia and weight stigma.
Folks, especially coaches, please keep taking those pictures, share those movement videos with YOUR body, do the thing that feels scary for you and feel how you feel. You are needed here in this industry.

Ann has been a gym goer since 2015, but after a hip replacement in March 2018 she discovered a real passion for strength training.
πͺ She found a love for lifting weights, the sense of achievement, along with noticing significant improvements in her daily life activities.
Her dedication and enthusiasm for strength training are contagious, and we canβt wait for you all to benefit from her passion and energy!
Ann also has a special interest in menopause wellness and is a dedicated non-diet coach. Sheβs passionate about helping others find strength and confidence through fitness, without the pressure of diet culture.
