There is an art to whipping your hair ๐ช๏ธ
Here are my main tips.
1. Practice on the floor so you arenโt afraid of losing your balance
2. Give the whip some gas right at the beginning and then let it coast the rest of the way
3. Let your chin lead you and always try to show off your neck at the end of a whip
4. Practice both directions
EXTRA TIPS I DIDNT HAVE TIME TO MENTION๐๐ผ
5. Tie up your hair to a high pony to help use the momentum to guide your hair around, then eventually let it down and do the same
6. Strengthen your neck to be able to whip your hair especially if itโs long and heavy

There is a free workshop on setting goals that you can take. Lot's of videos to watch and resources to absorb.

Here is your invitation:
Venus Rising | Heels Dance Where heels dance, sensual movement, and sisterhood meet, helping women reconnect with their confidence and power.
Letโs start by stating the obvious
Women are powerful
But something less obvious is that femininity is powerful.
Masculine power is logic, force, strength + protection
Feminine power is intuition, compassion, feeling + creation
Women are made differently but we arenโt honouring the parts of us that make us unique.
So Iโm here to remind you to tap into your own unique feminine power a little more ๐ธ

Iโm blessed in life because a friend of mine wrote this and I still have it on a card that sits on my desk.

Today would have been my dad's 71st birthday, and to honour this day I want to throw it back to a project I created during the pandemic.
I found footage of my old grade 3 recital where I danced to Like A Prayer by Madonna all by myself and found a way to incorporate my older self into it. A beautiful way to dance with my childhood self once again.
Like A Prayer 20th Anniversary Edition Dedicated to my late father, Edy1955 - 2017This was his favourite Shaka moment. The one he always talked about with tears in his eyes. I decided to recreate ...

In celebration of seeing the Michael movie for the second time today with my students, I wanted to throw it back to one of my first professional creations.
Liberian Girl is one of my favourite Michael tracks and I had been dreaming up this concept video for months and finally everything fell into place.
It's been on youtube for almost 3 years now and has over 61k views. I have MJ fans from all over the world commenting and messaging their love for him which fills my heart with joy.
So if you haven't got the chance to see it, here it is ๐
Liberian Girl | Dance Concept Video by Shaka Lee I've always connected to Michael Jackson's music so deeply and I've wanted to create something special to this song for months! Finally, I was able to bring m...

In case anyone wants to get to know a little bit more about me. Here is part 1 of the story of me becoming a dancer. I was faced with a lot of negativity and discouragement from those I wanted it from the most.
But I also shaped me into exactly who I am today. And one thing I will never stop preaching about is - YOU ARE A DANCER. No matter your level, your training, your style of dance. We are born in bodies that want to move to music, and when you do that, you are dancing.
It's not that complicated.
This is part 1 of my story:
I Am a Dancer Before I ever thought of teaching dance I had to get comfortable calling myself a dancer again. A title that I let get stripped away from me.
Friendly reminder - don't worry about what others think.
Just worry about yourself as an 8yr old and an 80 yr old. If they are proud then you are doing great!

DANCERS - Did you know that the warmup at the start of your dance class is doing way more than just warming up your body? ๐
This powerful synchronized exercise is prepping your body and mind to work together and setting the class up for successโฆ if done correctly ๐
I have spent 7 years warming up my classes - figuring out what works and what doesnโt. What music to play, what movements to include, how to cue the movements, how to structure it so everything flows, how to offer modifications when necessary. And when itโs right, can I tell you what a difference it makes!๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ
I believe that your success as a dancer starts with a good warmup ๐ช๐ผ
READ THAT AGAIN ๐๐ผ
I have an online program releasing next week that is packed with mobility and strengthening exercises for dancers ๐
So if you have been taking a lot of classes, doing a bunch of random warmups but still donโt see progress in your range of motion or flexibility this program will fix that!
I am here to help you dancers!! I want to see you get stronger, more precise and have more control over your movements. Use me as a resource ๐๐ผโจ
