Remembering Cal Hockley (March 21, 1931- December 10, 2020).

The Trail Smoke Eaters thoughts are with Cal Hockley’s Family and Friends. Cal’s presence was felt every time he stepped into the Cominco Arena. Trail is losing a legend who captained the 1961 Smoke Eaters to a Historic World Championship. Cal’s visits to the arena and our office will be missed by our owners, staff, and players (past and present). Cal was often seen at many Trail Smoke Eaters home games, taking in the game of hockey, and talking with fans, players, and anyone else that he crossed paths with. He was part of the team. Cal and the ’61 Smokies inspired generations of Trail youth athletes to dream big and reminded them that anything is possible.
