With all the hearts around today, it's an awesome reminder to take a little extra care of your anatomical heart too!
Get in a little cardio... run, walk, bike, snowshoe, row, however you choose! Get your heart rate up and keep it there for 20min or so. Steady state cardio is great for your heart, aerobic, and mental health!

PSP Winter Challenge 2022: Challenge yourself to complete 600 minutes of physical activity!
You already know that exercise is good for your body. But did you know it can also boost your mood, improve your sleep, and help you deal with depression, anxiety, stress, and more? What better time to join the Winter Challenge - a fun way to be active and healthy!
Your PSP Community Recreation, Fitness, Health Promotion and Sports teams have come together and created the Winter Challenge. This year the challenge is open to all CFMWS employees too!
Challenge yourself!
From January 31 to February 28, 2022 challenge yourself to complete 600 minutes of physical activity! Track your total activity minutes and compete against other people across the country. You could win a limited edition PSP tuque or scarf and some other great prizes (Top 20 Overall and 15 draw prizes per week)! You can also raise charitable funds in support of Soldier On. All activities can be accounted for with some examples outlined below. Be sure to comply with your provincial and Base health guidelines.
• Skating Activities (Hockey, Ringette, Skating)
• Court Sports (Basketball, Volleyball)
• Racquet Sports (Badminton, Squash, Pickle ball)
• Gym Sports (Dodgeball, Soccer)

Perhaps the most underrated exercise there is, getting out and purposefully walking every day has so many benefits. Here are just a few. Join in reaping these benefits, grab your shoes (or boots in this chilly weather) and get out to walk every darn day.
Walking was perhaps the best thing that I (the reconditioning team) did for my physical, social, and mental health through the past two years. I challenged myself to get out and walk at least one mile per day for one full year. Each day I would see beautiful things and wonderful people. My body recovered from physical stressors better. My brain recovered from mental stressors better. My spirit recovered from isolation better. My fitness level increased. My mood improved. I got out of my pandemic funk.
Give it a shot. Get out and walk every darn day.

The 20mRushes in the FORCE test are often the component that our Reconditioning Peeps see as a barrier getting back to fit. Here's a little four week program to work up to your rushes at home. It's all body weight, all you need is a step/chair/bench for day five.
