Calling on runners on the West Coast of the island (Tofino/Ucluelet)! We are doing some staged photography/video work, as we wanted to get some updated footage during the race, but clearly the weather gods weren't cooperating 😅

We are looking at getting like 10 or so runners, coordinating with some epic weather (I'm sure we will have some one of these days, haha), and doing 2 or 3 locations in an afternoon of shooting. Anyone who participates will get 50% off your 2025 Edge to Edge registration and one of our coveted 2024 volunteer shirts!

We will be looking to do this shoot before the end of November. Day and time will be determined, but we should be able to give you 2 or 3 days notice, depending on what the forecast is doing. There will be small sections of running happening, so don't put your name in if you're injured.

Everything is good for the route if you're coming to the coast today. There will be another round of rain starting later tonight and ending tomorrow (Sunday) early afternoon. It is not going to be as intense as yesterday's rain.

But regardless, please drive safe and leave plenty of extra time for the drive and the road work/alternating single lane traffic. PLEASE DON'T SHOW UP LAST MINUTE FOR CHECK INS.

THE RACE IS STILL ON!

UPDATE: THE EVENT IS NO LONGER ACTIVE ON THE DRIVE BC SITE. So it's looking like the road may be fully open (besides the single lane alternating traffic at the ongoing road work). DRIVE SAFE IF YOU'RE COMING THROUGH.

A message from MOTI:

The highway is currently closed as our contractors perform a culvert replacement and lay down material to ensure the surface of the road is suitable for traffic and get the increased water off site.

THE ROAD HAS NOT WASHED OUT. The work that's being done is to ensure a full washout does not happen.

We anticipate this work will take approximately 4 hours to complete. We will open the highway as soon as we are able and it is safe for travellers.

***This work started at approximately 5pm, so somewhere around 9pm the road will hopefully be open again (with single lane alternating traffic).***

ROAD WORK!
There is alternating single lane traffic on highway 4 just before Kennedy Hill.

So if you are coming from the other side of the island (including Port Alberni), be sure to leave LOTS OF EXTRA TIME to account for a potentially long stoppage. With having a lot of people coming in on the morning of the race, there could be at least ONE HOUR OF DELAY.

WE AREN'T ABLE TO DELAY THE START. So be sure to be to the Community Center (500 Patterson Drive) before the check in cutoffs:
Half Marathon: 8:45am
10k: 9:15am

Keep in mind that PARKING AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER WILL MOST DEFINITELY FILL UP EARLY. So also allow extra time to park elsewhere in the community and walk to the check ins.
