Calling all EFL practitioners! Learn how to run a one-day equine-facilitated professional development program to support nurses. In this course, you will dive into the nursing profession and learn what nurses do, and how what they do impacts them. It's a lot more than bedpans and giving pills!

You will learn 7 practical tools nurses can use their very next shift, all through the help of your horses.

Course content includes detailed interactive exercises with horses, reflective questions, a complete course syllabus, and detailed exercises. You can use it as is or adapt it to your current program. Topics covered include present-moment awareness, care and connection, and boundaries.

Easily integrate this educational experience into your existing program, no matter your EFL training. This is a great program for those just starting in equine-facilitated learning.

Just as horses are worldwide, so are nurses. Nurses are an impressive group to work with. Nurses are traditionally under-supported in the Equine-Facilitated Learning/ Wellness/Therapy world. We need to change this!

This course also works well with those in the helping professions such as occupational therapists, social workers, physiotherapists, nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, and anyone else in the helping professions.

Please note this is not a "Certification" course in equine facilitated learning.

🎄It’s the night before Christmas and I’m out in the barn
Blanketing my horses to keep them all warm.
They’re eating their dinners, tucked cozy in stalls,
Not aware that it’s Christmas, or any day special at all.
They dream of spring pastures from their pine-scented beds.
No visions of sugarplums dance in their heads.
But we people are thinking of merry parties and such
Quickly doing our tasks so we don’t miss too much.
This season is special, but the horses don’t know.
They munch on their hay safe out of the snow.
I finish my chores and head on inside
To get ready for dinner and my family’s yuletide.
It’s nearly midnight, the carols are sung.
I remember a story told when I was young
How at midnight on each Christmas Eve
The barnyard creatures can speak to us with ease.
I am called to the barn. I slosh through the snow.
I can’t really explain; I know I must go.
I slide open the door, and stand there and smile
Then slowly walk down the dimly lit aisle.
A nicker from Tinker, a soft snort from Annie,
Sweet, gentle Rosie gives me a wink
Captain rustles his bedding, Rosie comes into sight
Even Ruby gives a greeting as I walk through the night.
I thought about parties bright lit and warm,
The ones we don’t go to cause we have the barn
And vacations and holidays that we usually don’t get
Cause we have the animals and chores to be met.
Walking all the way to the end of the aisle
I stop to stroke Annie and linger awhile
She snuffles my face, hot breath on my skin
And I look around at the others, my horses, my friends.
I could be at parties with laughter and mirth
But where I am right now is the best place on Earth.

Merry Christmas ✨

All the best in 2025 ✨

Spring has sprung and change is in the air. We are programmed to think change is hard... but sometimes it's not... and this change has been coming for a while! After a good winter break and careful consideration, we have decided that...

🌟Tinker and Annie are hanging up their nurse's caps and capes and are retiring from equine-facilitated workshops/clinics.

🌟 We are on retirement regarding workshops, clinics, and all other Dragonfly Meadows activities.

🌟 My online course content ( for Nurses and Equine-Faciltiated practitioners) will appear on the learning platform UDEMY, eventually...

It has been great meeting so many amazing RNs, LPNs, RPNs and CCAs over the last 9 years as well as other facilitators and clinic hosts. Watching the horses work with everyone who came to the clinics was magic and so much fun. Also, a special thanks to my volunteers and helpers, I could not have done it without you.

I look forward to the next chapter and more free time: our last foal is due next month, hitting the trails with Tinker and starting Rosie in the cart, as well as some travel this summer.

There are lots of equine-facilitated programs out there... I encourage you to take a clinic, volunteer at a facility/program, or become a facilitator yourself!
