First competition of the 2022/2023 season is in the books! IDive had a record 28 athletes participate in the Candy Cane meet in Langley last weekend. Here are our divers in the Novice events, who won a total of 9 Gold medals, 6 Silver medals and 5 Bronze medals! What an achievement!!🥇 🥈 🥉

This year, three of our high performance divers graduated and are now at university. Sadie (U Penn), Morgan (University of Toronto) and Veronica (U Chicago) have been diving together for 10 years, most of it with iDive. In that time, they’ve trained together, competed against each other, travelled with iDive to China and the US, volunteered, coached and helped mentor our younger divers. We’ll miss seeing them on the pool decks, but wish them the best of luck!They’ll always be part of the iDive family!!

What a week! From Jayden’s first Junior National appearance, to Becca’s incredible SILVER medal, to Veronica’s last Canadian Junior diving event, we experienced it all! To say that we are proud of the hard work and dedication of our coaches and divers is an understatement. Awesome job Team iDive!!

It was a busy Sunday! Our pool was host to the Irene MacDonald Memorial Invitational, where 18 of our Learn to Dive and Novice athletes competed. Coaches and divers worked long and hard and the results were incredible! Our divers captured a total of 11 gold medals, 4 silver and 5 bronze!! 🙌 Congratulations divers and a big thank you to all our coaches!

Our divers picked up a few more medals on the last day of BC Summer Provincials! Awesome diving today Becca (3 m), Jayden (1 m) and Veronica (Open platform). Veronica also qualified for a spot on Team BC for the upcoming Canada Summer Games in Niagara!

Congratulations to the 2021/2022 BC Provincial Team! Six of our iDivers (Becca, Veronica, Lucia, Connie, Esme and Sadie) along with coaches Yan and Charlie, were named to the Team at the BC Diving Awards banquet tonight. Everyone is looking good in those new red jackets!

We’re back in Victoria for BC Summer Provincials! Great results from our divers after the first 2 days of competition:

Jayden - Gold in D Boys and now fully qualified for his first Nationals in 3m!

Becca - 2 Silver medals on Girls C 1 m and platform

Maddy - 3 Bronze medals on Women’s A 1 m, 3 m and Women’s Open 1 m, and 5th in Women’s Open 3 m!

Lucia - 4th place in Women’s A 3 m, and 6th in Women’s Open 3 m!

In our novice category, huge congratulations to Maia (D girls silver on 1m and 3m), Cameron (C group gold on 1m and 3m), Felix (C group bronze on 1m) and Mathias (B group silver on 1m and bronze on 3m). Your medals look good on you! The boys also qualified to compete at the BC Games next February!

It’s back to school, and for iDive alum Gabby, that means the University of West Florida. We wish you all the best in your freshman year - their swim and dive team are so lucky to have you!!

A big congratulations to all our divers who competed at Virtual Junior Nationals and our entire competitive team! In a year with lots of adjustments and unknowns, everyone rose to the challenge. With the support of our amazing coaches, divers learned new dives, got dive lists, competed and performed. We also can’t thank our videographer, Russell, enough for his help filming every event for all age groups, for all the virtual competitions!

Our Tier II and III divers have been busy! They got to compete in our Irene MacDonald fun competition, which we videoed live so parents could watch on Zoom. And the divers did so well!

It’s time! Virtual Junior National Championships get underway tomorrow and run through til Sunday. Six of our divers will be competing against divers across the country, covering all age groups. Another successful virtual national qualifier this past weekend - we are so happy our divers were able to compete and we couldn’t be more proud of them all! A huge thank you to our coaches, volunteers, and for all their efforts to make this event happen!

Athlete spotlight: Sadie Howard. We are thrilled for Sadie and her verbal commitment to dive with the University of Pennsylvania in the Fall of 2022! Sadie has been part of our Elite Competitive Team for the past 6 years and specializes on 1 m and 3 m springboard. We are so proud of her focus, hard work and leadership in both diving and academics! Sadie was recently featured in the North Shore News. That’s a wrap for Diving Canada’s first virtual Junior National Qualifying Event. The weekend saw iDive earn 9 national qualifying scores across 6 events! This was the first competition in over a year for most of our divers, and we are so proud of everyone’s dedication and achievements. Thanks for putting this event on!

COVID-19 update: Vancouver Parks and Recreation has announced pool closures starting this afternoon for at least 2 weeks. This includes the Vancouver Aquatic Centre and Hillcrest Aquatic Centre. We have cancelled all of our spring break camps. We will keep you updated as the situation evolves. Be safe and stay healthy everyone!
